Ever heard of photoshopping NOrway - you can produce all sorts of rubbish with it. NO wonder you believe what you do if those are your sources

Giving Herr Farage control of this country would be like taking back control of a plane and then flying it into the side of a mountain

I think we will get referendum but it will be a complete fudge. I just do not see any of the 3 main parties taking that much of a risk.

You need not apologise. Only if the ESB force us to join. EFTA or Fríverslunarsamtökum Evrópu is good for us.

Given our need to keep our role as a majot international banking centre in Europe.

I don't believe for one moment Cameron would take us out. He would renegotiate a better deal etc etc and then claim he has done what he was given a mandate to do.... thus saving face.

I wonder if the Tory problem is that it was the party of Empire and we have none left..... and many of its voters are those with aspirations for an era gone by..... hence the xenophobia which is whipped up and released every 3/4 years.

In my view nationalism in this day and age is so short sighted..... and along with religion one of the major causes of war to this day.

Anyone remember the global village by Marshall McLuhan in the 60s I think.... so ahead of its time.

More thoughts on a wet Tuesday

In relation to political parties.....I just don't find one party that fits... I was trying to come to terms with my views over the w/e.. and was thinking:
Socialist? Has been my default choice over the years.... Can't go for state socialism though
    Liberal? yes but woolly
    Green? yes but.....
Tory....... some economic policies yes.... but

and then was listening to the Now show on radio 4... a great show.... and Adrian Mitchell was joking about radio 4 listeners being libertarian democrats.... so there is hope for me...

I really do believe a move away from oppositional politics would be a way forward....

Watched Farage in conversation with Andrew Neil on Sunday. The man is a liar, constantly claiming that he had never said things that are on record very recently. Typical politician trying to change the subject when pushed into a corner.

Thank goodness I will be on holiday when the EU elections take place. I see little chance of the outcome making a huge difference. Le Penn will probably do well here as her mate will in the UK, but when it come down to who runs the country they will both go back into their protest roles.

Last year, we had a referendum on how many members and what type (Parish Constables/Deputies/Senators) the States Assembly should be made up of. The vote, such as it was given the usual low turnout, was in favour of one of the 2 possible changes but the States Members decided to maintain the status quo which was the third option. The cost of a pointless referendum could've been avoided if the recommendations of the Clothier Report from December 2000 had been implemented.
