I've watched henderson every game for 2 seasons. And to be completely honest with you, when we sold him for 20mill I was over the moon. Don't get me wrong, I hope that he develops into one of your best midfielders but I just can't see it happening. He has a great work rate, engine and attitude, but to me a top player is someone who can beat a man, create a chance or often threaten the goal, he can't do that. Henderson had 5 assists last year, but played in every game, took 80% of all set pieces and was always one of our players high up the pitch. If you look at that, it's really not good. My theory was that Bruce/quinn always intended in selling him for a big price. You never once heard them say that we will keep him or won't sell, it was always 'if the price is right' 'we won't hold him back'. In my mind they was always touting him to the big boys, and well done to them, becuase we got 20mill for an extremely average player. He can't beat a man, cross a ball, no pace, no tackle. Just good at keeping the game flowing. Sunderland fans wanted him out for a while and some even booed him on the pitch which is a disgrace. I hope he does well for you, he deserves to with his attitude but I just cant see it, and feel sorry for the lad because people will expect from him things, which he really hasn't got. Anyways good luck for the season. Love your saurez & carrol partnership, and good luck hendo.
OP.... You're fighting a battle that's already been won, as I suspect most 'Pool fans know they've bought another donkey.
Anyway, to actually respond to the OP: You're entitled to your view, and being a Sunderland fan you'll have seen a lot more of him than just about all of us have. The only thing I would say is that time will tell how he turns out. The set up at Liverpool is different to at Sunderland, so he may quickly improve and get on well with it, or he may not. Players thrive at different clubs. For example, Mascherano was rotting at West Ham, came to us and now look at him.
Thanks for your view, but I value Damien Comolli, Steve Clarke and Kenny Dalglish's opinion over yours.
Well trust who's opinion you like, and like I said, good luck to hendo & yourselfs. But I think your 'GREAT' Liverpool set up may have come unstuck this time.
To be fair the OP is just giving an opinion and not being unreasonable. The backlash he has just got is more down to the constant abuse from the mancs since we bought him. I hope he develops and thanks for your comment.
Well if he's that bad then you won't be getting your £4mil add on's depending on England appearence's, and if you buy Ngog too for £5mil that will be £11 so I don't think that's a bad price for him really but thank's for the insight anyway your entitled to your opinion.
Playing with the **** players at Sunderland must be hard for any up and coming player. Hopefully, playing with a good team under good management will improve him immensely. After all it is clear that the boy has talent, it just needs to be exposed which is more than the capabilities of Sunderland.
It wasn't £20m anyway, Comolli confirmed that no one in the press had got the figure right so far. I'd say it's about £12m upfront with add-ons taking it up to £16m or something if he achieves his goals.
OMG The Ngog deal is nothing to do with the Henderson deal so 16 mil minus 5 mil is not 11 mil (because we lose a player on top of that, Ngog)
