Tell you what, Nigel Worthington has won the championship and also got us to a play off final. That team also had goals a plenty across the board and had us playing as a team in the championship... How did the premier league go, and where's he managing now??

    Hear hear Munky.

It was Mutch who forced the save from Ruddy but that's not the point here.

Malky showed shrewd tactics that day - he came with a game plan, saw his side completely over-ran in the first 30 minutes, changed formation and bolstered his midfield which evened things up and showed much more tactical nous in that game than our manager showed all season. Sure they got lucky - Marshall played a blinder (that's his job though ain't it - making saves and all ?), we spurned some chances and stuff but overall, as ugly as it was, Cardiff got what they came for and created the best chance of the match and could have easily won the game (see comment re Mutch above).

I'd prefer Lennon as manager myself but won't be disappointed if Malky gets the gig !

Am I the only one who is really not keen on Lennon? I'm sure that plenty of ex-players with pedigree (to command respect from the players) that could do the Celtic job at present – what has Lennon actually achieved? He is also a confrontational and antagonistic character judging by certain touchline antics and press-conferences.

Well now you've moved the goalposts...

Malky Mackay is not Nigel Worthington. More to the point, our immediate aim is to get back into the Premier League. If that occurs under Mackay and he's not able to keep us up, I'm sure the board will think again. The priority is a return though and Mackay has that on his record. I also am not certain Mackay could then take us on to the next level, but that's a different question entirely.

No, I think most of us are a little tentative. He could be brilliant, but it's difficult to tell.

I very much doubt it will be Lennon, he's denied any contact earlier in the week, Malky is more likely imo.

How many years has Malky been manager for, something like four and half isn't it? Pretty early days in terms of managerial careers I'd say, with plenty of time to improve and learn from mistakes so for people to simply dismiss him as a negative manager based on last season is incredibly short-sighted if you ask me.

That is a very fair comment Munky. I am not saying I would be against Malky, I just think Lennon may be a better choice at this time for the reasons stated earlier in the thread. There are no other candidates for me though.

It's all pointing towards Malky now, expect an announcement this evening got nothing to back this up, just a hunch.
If they were going to give it to Adams it would have been announced by now and if it was to be Lennon he would have surely asked Celtic if he could speak to us by now, considering McNasty said the appointment would be made within a week <ok>

It is the Daily Mail but they seem to be saying Malky was at CR last night.

If you look at Mackay's record in the Championship, he is more than capable of getting us back up. Maybe not in his first season but I think he would at least get us into play off's.

I imagine Lennon and Malky would both be excellent man-managers and probably get a bit more out of the team than CH managed. Lennon has more experience and has both played and amanged in the Champion's League pretty successfully. My opinon is that we would be more likely to attract a higher grade of player under Lennon and that were he to get us up we would probably have a greater chance of attracting and retaining talent. I think that he has a superior record to Malky in terms of recruiting talent and bizarrely he would have a larger budget with us than at Celtic. I thiink with Lennon there would be a risk that it could all go spectacularly wrong whereas Malky is probably the safer pair of hands with lots of experience in doing well at Championship level.

I'd be happy with either - I'd prefer Lennon if only for his stlye of play but Malky would give 100% and get 100% support from the fans as a bit of a club legend. Either way keeping NA on staff would be a good call as he has done very well for us and us going down is certainly not his fault.

Great post - exactly how I feel about this one.

I actually think this is an easier appointment to make than the one after Lambert left.

From another source (LinkedIn) I understand that Lennon is to be announced later today with a 3 year contract and a decent transfer budget - the source is a Norwich rumour board!! Will look into

Its a no brainer as far as I'm concerned between Mackay and Lennon.

One has experience of PL and promoting a side and didvery well at Watford in the Championship and is a Carrow favourite.

One is quite a repugnant character managing for the best side by a country mile in a Mickey Mouse League and managed a couple of good results in an irrelevant (to us) Champions League.

    Neither manager plays good football.

I think a Lennon will end in tears for everyone and he strikes me as a Roy Keane.

I'd personally pick Mackay all day long of the two, but if it were my decision I think more exciting prospects are out there.
