I wasn't disagreeing with that point. I think respect should always be shown before the game so that you can enjoy (or try to in some cases) the match.
Very much supported idea by HULL CITY supporters. I'm sure I went to valley parade to watch Bradford City v Hull City that season.. Bradford city owners had been warned about the pile of rubbish mounting up under that stand also and ignored it.. Grrr. Won't ever forget the sight of policemans hair bursting into flames on the pitch from the heat. The fact that the anniversary was ignored was t**tish beyond belief.
It is wrong (and a shame) that the FA felt that no memorial was necessary given the amount of media attention surrounding Hillsborough, though we must remember that it was the 25th anniversary of Hillsborough which is regarded as a significant mark. I'll support the 56th min applause but I'm not sure enough of the crowd will be aware of it to make it work. If there had been some awareness 2/3 weeks ago then maybe the media would have picked up on it as would the fans, but the final is 4 days away and I've got a horrible feeling it just won't have a wide enough audience to make it work
It doesn't need to be most of the crowd, only needs to be a couple of hundred and others will join in.
We've got 2 threads about this on our 606 boards and everyone is up for it. It's criminal the way this tragedy has been treated over the years, so on Saturday lets put it back in the public minds.
The Bradford fire video is still used in fire training in several different professions. I had to watch it when I worked as cabin crew. Truly horrific event. Hills borough is in the news more as the fans quest for the truth or justice continues to this day. If liverpool fans didn't make a big deal out of it I'd imagine the footballing world wouldn't do anything about it either.
It's now up on all City message boards and social media sites and we're trying to get local TV, radio and the local rag involved, plenty should know about it by the weekend.
After OLM got in touch with the Club, this was posted on our Official Club site. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/201314-fa-cup-final-bradford-fire-1553599.aspx R.I.P. the 56
Commentators on BT didn't even bat an eyelid when the crows started applauding on the 56th minute, awful stuff, you'd think being footie commentators they'd know why the crowd started applauding? **** BT
Thankyou on behalf of Lincoln, and Bradford for the applause.. Football Remembers! Gone, but never forgotten!
we all started clapping in the pub i was in as well. brought a tear to the eye. we all have a team that we love, a game that we all love, but we all need to remember our loved ones.
One of the most shocking things I have seen in my life are the TV pictures of that poor man walking onto the pitch whilst he was on fire.I remember reading a few days later that he had died.
