Another nice little friendly. Don't expect much from our club in pre season. Would be nice if they decided to go to Australia or America in one pre season as I think they would get a good following but I suppose Weston super mare and Cheltenham are adequate enough...

I'd love to see Bristol City go on a US tour. While I reckon we'd get creamed by their main league they've got a number of other teams in lower leagues that I reckon would give us a great game. It'd be a great place to scout too.

The benefits are there. Just the ambition/desire from the club isn't.

Nice in theory, but the amount of money that this would cost to take a squad to the States would be huge.

For a change we would be better off going to near Europe, i.e France or Belgium, Holland etc

Agreed...... which is why we should do it the once. I imagine the amount of money its costing to go and work in Botswana this summer isn't cheap. Im sure a fortnight in the US wouldn't be all that much and the club would reap the rewards IMO. I wouldn't mind city going to Germany for a tour. Would be pretty decent!

One of the few nearer European countries the I've not been to, but I am actively researching a trip to Munich this year for 5 nights or so as I really want to sample a proper German Bierkeller (bar). It seems that the low cost airlines only fly to Berlin from Bristol, so it looks like BA from Heathrow which is a drag :emoticon-0149-no:

DIY sketch to Botswanna is not that expensive. That is DIY not with City for that heavy cash I would expect weeks.

    I lived in SA - Bad J'burg.

Been to Botswanna on game drives an trips looking for the big five. saw bugger all mind ... Too hot as in would melt the wings of a fly hot.

Tours with City. 100 to Latvia, less than 100 to Portugal. Wouldn't be many to USA either.

The ONE that would get the audience up is Tilburg - Willem II and its a short un over the border to Belgium.

Chelsea's recent summer training camp across America was £400k, and they stayed in fantastic hotels, trained at some of the biggest college campuses in the country, and played a full tour against the top teams in America. I doubt we'd spend even a quarter of that on a smaller scale tour.

Chelsea also profited from their games. I'd be surprised if we didn't at least break even.
