Today is the first anniversary of the sad passing of BrixtonR and so, even though I know that David would have hated this, I could not let the occasion pass unmarked. He would have been as excited as the rest of us by our victory against Wigan, thrilled by how Loftus Road rocked on Monday night and would have been keenly looking forward to a trip to Wembley to cheer on his beloved Superhoops in the play-off final. His absence does sadly, but appropriately, keep these events in perspective. Brix was far more than just a moderator of this forum, he defined the forum in its infancy and skilfully guided it through a whole series of growing pains. Thanks to DT’s brilliant banner he will never be far from our thoughts.
Amazing it has been a year, but great his memory lives on in the prediction league rightly named in his honour.
Unbelievable that a year has passed so quickly. I still often think of my mentor Dave, and more so recently with our coming trip to Wembley. I'm sure he would be very proud how fellow R's on this board are helping each other in getting tickets. I hope a glass is raised in his memory on the our day out. RIP Dave
Nice reminder Roller. Unbelievable that so much time has passed since the post from Deon letting us know the sad news, I still remember how I felt, learning of the passing of a man if never met, but got on with so well. Hope it's good wherever you are Brix and that you can at least find a stream for the final. Rest well mate.
Brixton, so missed. It is so sad that he passed away at that time, how he would have enjoyed this last few weeks... It would have been so good to have him with us at Wembley. IrishRs...we must raise a glass in his honour in the pub at Kingsbury a week on Saturday
I can't believe it is now a year. I am sure we will raise a glass to Brix at what looks like being the largest not 606 meet up before our trip to Wembley - how apt that the club he loved will be at Wembley marking almost exactly a year after he passed away. RIP Brix.
I hope that is a good omen Roller... A year has passed so quickly. I remember how surreal it was getting the message of BrixtonR's passing. It put the frustration of relegation in perspective. To see this board still thriving is a testament to the man. RIP Brix
I only met him once and the only memory I have of him is of him smiling and being happy. I think this was only a week or so before he passed so it was nice to see him happy until the end.
Lets hope we can toast him by lifting the Cup Saturday week. There wouldn't be a more fitting tribute.
I joined the site after his passing away. However, I can genuinely feel his presence on this forum. He must have been a remarkable man and congratulations to all for keeping his memory truely alive. RIP.
A year on, and I still miss his warm and witty posts on this board. A great personality. I'm sure he'll be on a few minds come Saturday week.
Can't believe where that year has gone......just hope he has had a word with the BIG MAN upstairs and has organised an R's win saturday week.......Brix would have loved all of this..... In our thoughts Brix....we'll raise a glass and do you proud.......
Anybody know if Deon and Pat are going to Wembley? It would be nice if we could help them get tickets and to see them in Kingsbury.
The man had so many powers in the brief moment i met him only wished i had met him earlier. He was a very wise person that anyone could tell. I met him with Flyer and we both agreed that he wasn't well ... There is a lesson in life lads ... let's get on with it and never waste a moment I shall be thinking of him as Swords says if we win a week Saturday
I agree with you mate. I doubt that anyone could match David for his wit, wisdom and articulation on our board. He was one of a kind in that respect. Nice OP Roller. I'll raise a glass to the great man this evening.
