Maybe we should apply to join the Scottish Premiership  Think we could get in the Champions League.

That's the age-old question, isn't it. Do we want to see the best football in England, or the best English football?

The best football in England will feature loads of foreign players because A) they're as good or better and B) half the price of their English equivolent. The best English football (English players only) will be interesting, very expensive, but not very pleasant to watch -- think Fulham under Lawrie Sanchez.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair, DR. The best English football can and does include skill, passing, pace and so on. Adam Lallana, Danny Murphy, Jack Wilshire, Daniel Sturridge, Pat Roberts... all excellent players and all English. Sanchez was a footballing neanderthal, whose team would have played like footballing neanderthals regardless of their nationality, because that's how he set them up. The bigger question for the Premier League, is whether we want a competitive league, or a league whose best teams can compete in Europe. Whichever of those two objectives you prioritise automatically hinders the other. Sadly, the Premier League has always been about the latter rather than the former.

Seen many England games this season? Granted, England better than the USA at football (rugby, cricket and shows dedicated to lambing), but if England was so full of technical, passing talent, why isn't it on display in the EPL? A few players on ManU, Liverpool, etc. does not go far making your point for you. I will simply point you to your own football associations findings on the matter: FA director claims England players 'are not technically good enough'

Don't get me wrong. I watch the EPL rather than the MLS. And aside from our goalkeepers, there's not a single US outfield player who'd be considered for the England squad. But without players like Yaya Toure, Aguerro, Willian, Suarez, Mata, Hazard, Dembele, Flamini, Ozil, etc. the EPL would more closely resemble the football played in the Championship, where (BTW) there plenty of English players. The fact that you don't have English players tearing up the La Liga, the Bundesliga or Seria A also points to the problem.

Be happy. You have the best football league in the world right on your doorstep.
