Will Pochettino stay or go?

Best post in the thread I agree entirely. My opinion to be really honest is that I think pochettino is a world class manager. I think he could win this league now given the right players. The reason we lost to Cardiff and other teams is because our squad isn't good enough.

On the flip side I think other managers may have been able to get more points from this squad but obviously not with the same panache. If he chooses to go to Spurs will he have the players? I don't think so but they will as a group be better on paper than we have at the moment and I can see him making Spurs a force without spending much at all. If he adds what he added to Saints in his first few days imagine how good Spurs would be without spending anything!!!

I don't mean a Sam win at all costs style but we have lost some games through over passing to keep possession at times.

I don't think it will hurt Saints too much if Poch leaves but the indirect consequence that players may leave will.

At the end of the day I loved the years when we were minnows in this league but fighting at the top. I loved the years where we were favs to go down year after year but one man helped us defy the odds. I didn't like the Championship first time around. lol. I loved the rise through the leagues. I loved the intrigue of fighting from a desperate position last season to finish safe. I loved this season finally saying we are going places.

You know what? With or without Pochettino, Adam, Luke or whoever we will still be going places because now we are in a position where we aren't going to be picking from managers that are hoping for a chance in the Prem. We have money, we can compete, we are eighth this season. We will be able to pick and choose who we want to succeed Poch (should he leave)

 

But every team has those, no matter who the manager might be. Man City lost to Cardiff as well...and to Sunderland and Villa. Under any manager you can possibly conceive of, we will have games where we underperform.

This thread is getting like a scab I can't stop picking. I wouldn't worry too much about MP taking all our players with him (at least this season). If we sell Luke and Adam to other clubs (not Spurs) I can't see the board selling anyone else.

 

I actually think that it's great all this agonising. It just means that we don't have so many, or indeed any, of the aggressive "FFS, the window has been open 5 days and we haven't signed anyone yet and it's obvious that KL doesn't care whether we progress or not, because otherwise we would made five quality signings by now, and (cont. on page 94).
I don't miss this at all. It's rather worse than the "Private Fraser's workshop" which constitutes half the comment on here recently.

 

I'm playing tennis tonight with someone who works at the club so will see what I can find out.

 

I would rather be agonising about who we are getting in. We have all that to look forward to if we do get large sums for players....fans will expect every penny to be spent on players...heaven help Katharina if £3-50 is left unspent...whereas in reality some will go towards cost of the training ground and other debts. Les Reed said that Mauricio has told him what his requirements are for next season (at Saints)...what happens now if another manager comes in. Some will be approached anyway, but any incoming manager will want a money chest as well as our style will change. Need an answer about the manager now, so a new one can be brought in if needed. Tottenham will want it sorted soon as well (if MP is indeed their top target; papers have got it wrong before).

 

But only tell us if it is good news.

 

Bookies odds are unchanged fropm yesterday so hopefully thats a positive sign.

 

Poch famously checked out our players before taking the job. What do we think he'll make of the Spurs squad? Can you see Adebayor relishing double fitness sessions?

 

Think thats a good point. Spurs players wont appreciate the pressing game. Too many divas!

 

Why would I do that?

 

Mustn't give up hope...there's many a slip twixt cup and lip. No doubt Saints have made an offer and promises...Spurs will have to do better (which they no doubt could) but this may make another manager more attractive. It's only the British press that have made MP favourite and they've got that wrong before...notably with us before Adkins came in. Personally, I think it's likely he will go to Spurs, so this needs sorting now.
