Originally, NP let it out that we would make our signings early doors. Now, we could go into the Bullard/Oli/McShane/Ghilas routine - monies tied up in players we need to lose - but what about this? http://www.hullcity-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/city_struggle_with_transfers_682850/index.shtml
Every manager says he wants to get signings wrapped up early. They hardly ever do. I'm not seeing other Championship clubs wrapping up a load of decent signings and so I won't panic until I do. The market is reasonably slow at the moment. It'll kick into gear at some point and it'll all domino from there.
That's one gloomy article. It's about a lack of signings, yet lists five players who've agreed to sign, which I believe is more than any other Championship club. We can only make a judgement on the signings once we know who we've got and that's certainly not decided yet.
I aint going to hold my breath for these signings to happen! Different manager but same old club still
If the 3 we expect to go through this week go through, then we would have made 5 signings. Plus there are obviously more to come, for Christ sake we don't even have a GK. So no, I'm not worried about when we'll sign them, however I am worried about the quality of the signings. I'm delighted we've signed Dudgeon and Evans and probably Hobbs, but I'm very underwhelmed at the thought of Adebola and Mckenna. I know people will give me the experience and tight budget line, but these are not the types of players we should be signing. We should be signing players who are potentially better than the ones we've got (Dudgeon for Dawson) we're supposed to be improving the squad, not just adding to it. I have faith in Nigel to come good, but Adebola makes no sense to me at all. I would rather have Parkin back.
Because it makes us panic? As in "Oh God why are we wasting all our transfer money on an average defender?"
Bollocks. Hobbs was playing better and better as time went on, he's young and will prove a good signing, I think him & Chester will be a solid partnership.
Agreed, I just hope Nigel thinks that too, I'm a bit worried that he kept moving Chester out of defence.
it's a **** article by HCO. There is some truth in the Hull image even if those of us who know the city see it differently. I think our 2 seasons in the PL have made us a "bigger" club though. "Who's the manager?" well, it's clear that a lot of players respect NP and would like to play for him. That's sth Brown lost after Eastlands.
Pan calling kettle mate. If anyone on here presents a dogmatic line of argument, it is YOU! Always the same; always negative; always anti-AP; always anti-NP; always pro-Bullard; always pro-Brown. Always out of touch with reality, the reality we face now.
i arent worried at all. we used to have weekly winding up orders against us in the 1990s. that was something to worry about. just because we do or dont sign enouhg players seven weeks before the season starts is neither hear nor there as far as i'm concerned and theres bugger all i can do about it even if i was concerned. as long as therres a club and its pointing in the right direction. it doesnt have to do it all now. it took over 100 years to get to the pl. another month or two to get back wont hiurt.
maybe because were an average team? lets not get ahead of ourselves its never going to be easy for us to get big name players to come to hull just because of the town's repretation, nigel has done a terrific job for us and should not be doubted.
