Yeh you're probably right. Anyway like Jonesey said above, I stopped getting too attached to players after Torres, I'd love Suarez to stay but stay or go we just have to get on with it, no point 'hating' him for it if he does go, wasted energy <ok>

long gone are the days of saying you idolized rushie or Dalglish, as these days the ruddy players could change each season!!

be ****ing irritating if he leaves though, because he will help attract some quality players.

didn't one of the players who went to spurs say something about playing with bale before he went? just hope it doesn't happen to us too lol.

He hasn't attracted many big names so far <ok> even his Uruguay mate Ramirez [?] chose Southampton over us.

I know what you mean though and I don't go along with the sell for as much as possible and get a good replacement, that replacement is totally untested. We have a real chance for big things next year and I'd rather that be with Suarez than without.

Let's calm down. Even if Suarez has a £70 million BOC and Real come calling that is not the end of the matter. I'm fairly confident that Real would want to buy with staged payments and I'm almost certain that John Henry would reject that. You have to remember that even if Suarez hands in a transfer request, Liverpool do not have to enter into a contract with any club when they do not agree with the terms. Alongside that, you also have to take into account that John Henry is probably not averse to dragging any dispute through the courts if he feels it is in his and Liverpool's interests - even Real cannot fix the legal processes outside of Spain!

Having said all of that it would be very silly of Liverpool and JH not to have already prepared contingency plans should Suarez go. The club has already experienced the Torres type panic and the Suarez1 type urgency and I doubt that they will have left themselves exposed. As for Rodgers wanting to let go 7 players over a number of windows I don't doubt that at all. Whatever players mean to the fans, they are essentially merely components to the club and the manager. Enjoy them whilst they're here and say thank you when they go - as long as the club keep strengthening and moving forwards.

In summation. If he goes he goes and we need to get the best return we can. With that we need to buy the best replacement(s) that we can. My only concern is that his sale price would be used to fund all of our Summer business instead of being in addition to it.

That was the first thing I asked my mate and it's 60 mill PLUS player sales.

I would imagine that he really wants to play for us in the Champions League but will be tempted if RM come in for him, £70M is a lot of money and not something we should turn down if the player shows that he wants to go. Other than that not even £200M is enough for him to go to a PL team as it directly affects us.

Suarez will never have a season like the one he's just had again imo.

He'll be 28 in January and he's therefore at his peak.

He's also therefore at his peak value wise.

From a purely football perspective you'd obviously want to retain him, but you can never predict what's going to happen in this game.

I was 100% sure he'd force a move last summer, but to his credit Henry stood firm and the player himself just got on with it (which is extremely rare) and he's now much happier with his lot I'm sure. So, personally I doubt he'll be agitating for a move this summer, if RM came knocking then that might change, but who knows....

I don't want him to go either, even for 100 mill pounds. There's a natural cap to what a club can do with money.

The World Cup does make things interesting on two fronts though, one for worse (Suarez focus on LFC dimming for the summer), and one for the better: the emerging pool of talent available to buying clubs amplifies.

That's impossible to say with any certainty. He may, he may not. People said the same about Big Nipples and Marmite head.

Personally, I think he may drop off form a little- (he's already started) - but I think that's more down to people knowing what to expect now- and teams are starting to learn to park the bus against us and cross their fingers. It's not that Suarez is going to be worse- it's that teams have a slightly better idea what works against him (us).

Even at his worst though- Suarez is still one of the best. When he's not scoring goals he is opening spaces for other people- or providing for others. When teams park the bus, they can't attack as well.

I agree with that but even if Suarez is hitting 20 goals then he's a great player to have around.

  14. I've said all along, he'll stay unless one of Barca or Real cough up what we want. Nothings changed IMO.

I agree with what you said (inlcuding the highlighted) but point out the bit highlighted is an opinion and nothing more. Although younger at the time, most didn't think C.Ronaldo could repeat his 2007-08 form either, but he has done several times over.

Which is why I put IMO at the end of it <doh>

Ronaldo was only 23 then, so it's not a valid comparison. However, if you look at his stats, you'd probably say that he peaked in 2011/12 season when he scored 46 goals in 38 games - when he was 27.........

  16. Fair point on the "imo" <laugh>

    However, to return the favour...

I did put "Although younger at the time" in my comment :)

I'm not sure about your 'two fronts' thoughts - a]Suarez seems very easily led into talking about his place at Liverpool when he's away from Liverpool. b] buying based on WC performance has proved time and again not to be a good idea.

'imo' is pretty much superfluous anyway, who else's opinion are you giving if not your own. It's silly imo!

We've bought players before who shone in the world cup and turned out to be ****s, including that vile spitting twat who's name momentarily escapes me. Thankfully.
