So he may come back to play next season.

But his knees are so bad that he can't play 46 games and may retire.

This info is from a couple of Korean posters on the WATRB forum, sorry to ruin the mood Oslo!

TF gave him another year in exchange for lowering his wages to go to PSV.

I thought his contract expired to but this info was new to me.

It must have worked out at least neutral in terms of what it costs us then.

Unfortunately we got suckered into buying the wrong Korean, based on his pedigree, when there were others out there, like the lad who finished the season with Sunderland, and Yun, who were the right sort.

You could say that with most of the old players, we were suckered into signing them all with the odd exception.

Agree, although Tony was no doubt pushing to sign a Korean star to enhance the Far East market branding.

Ki Sung-Yueng was the Swansea player on loan at Sunderland who we once showed an interest in.

Over the course of the 2011–2012 campaign, Ki scored 7 goals and had 6 assists, playing a key role in helping Celtic win the Scottish title. Ki's talent and performance at Celtic and national team drew the interest of teams such QPR, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Deportivo La Coruña, Rubin Kazan, and several Bundesliga clubs.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ki_Sung-yueng

On 24 August 2012, Ki transferred to Swansea City for around £6 million on a three-year deal, which was Swansea's record transfer fee

On-loan Swansea midfielder Ki has been a regular this season and had played on despite suffering tendonitis in his knee in recent months, but the injury got the better of him and his last game was the 1-0 home defeat against Everton on April 10.

Once a specialist said he was unlikely to play again this season, Ki asked to leave early but Poyet kept him on Wearside a while longer.

However, fit or not, Premier League rules mean he could not play against his parent club Swansea in Sunday’s final game, and once Sunderland reached safety in midweek Poyet allowed him to return to his native South Korea and prepare for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Poyet added: “I understood what he wanted but I was worried about what message that would send out to the rest of the group when we were still battling to be safe.

“I felt I could not let anyone important go until we were over the line.”

It's nonsense, some Korean website has spun up some garbage about Fernandes giving a post match interview requesting park's services again. Very much in the mould The Supreme Leader's ablity to alter weather through the power of thought, and his -38 golfing handicap

Hopefully, I don't think any of us want him back. Yun is much much better for us, probably on 20% of the wages too.
