Spurs didn't buy a replacement for Bale, just 20 million worth of players. If they sold Bale and say they bought Sanchez or Reus then they would of been a threat. When your team loses the player which can create something out if nothing, they're always going to struggle. They signed Lamela who I rate and think will come good, but he's needed a lot of time into England. If we sole Suarez for 80-100m we need someone similar to replace him, I would like Benzema but he is an out n out striker so we would have to change our game. Someone like Nasri, Lavezzi or Lucas Moura we should look at, someone with skill, takes on players and can play different positions.
tell me... spurs... who spent money? AVB or levy... blame levy for the flops. 2 spurs finished where? 6th... the year before with the gorilla they got 5th a whole 3 massive points down on their points tally. 100mil for a 27 year old who'll turn 28 and could bite someone for all i know tomorrow... oh i think there comes a time when you take the cash. I think spurs had a reasonable model to buy players knowing bale was off but i felt they just started throwing it about by the end. If LFC have 60mil to spend, spend it... then if suarez wants to go sell. have a strategy with and without him. our secret last season was that both suarez and sturridge liked to drop off and run in behind. it created havoc. if say you get a player like rvp who wants t orun wide its no use... we need a player who's instinct is to ge tin behind into the real danger zone... there is always another palyer guys.
I see you're at the Denial stage of the 5 Stages of Grief. I wish I could just invent a fantasy world like you where my club is the bestest in the world and none of our players could leave the club because the club is in their heart and there's just nowhere else they'd rather be despite playing in bigger, better comps, actually challenging for the League and Cups and earning 3 times the money. I feel for you after reading all your posts as I think you are deluding yourself and Lallana and Shaw, and you're new Management, are about to give you a slap in the face of reality and you're not going to know how to cope. Ask the Swansea fans how they got over it as they were full of all the bluster too about their club and Joe Allen who would never leave, and even if he wanted to, the club would set a value LFC would never pay.
William Carvalho anyone? http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...for-Portuguese-international-William-Carvalho
i dont know the player, but that sounds a ridiculous amount for a player who may or may not be any good.
You keep bringing this up and its way off in terms of comparison. The main thing is Allen followed his manager. Are you sacking Rodgers to get Pochettino? Its a silly comparison., And the wage thing you keep banging on about is ridiculous. You aren't going to pay him £165k a week so you won't be tripling it at all. Add to that we will surely be offering him an improved contract if he stays anyway so talk of tripling is ridiculous. You will probs offer him £100k a week max. We will probably improve to 70 - 75k a week. So you would in fact be way way off 'tripling' his salary. Need to get real when you are arguing. Yes Liverpool is a massive club. Will Lallana go there. He may well but it won't be because you are tripling his wage because you won't be and it won't be like the Allen transfer because he won't be following his manager.
that's an odd point of view, so Allen was only following his manager, and it wasn't because he would be playing for a bigger club? cant really argue against the wages as we just don't know yet,but all i can say is we have been reducing the silly wages we was paying players because we had no cl football to help finance it, now we do, who knows what will happen with the wages situation.
Other than Sturridge and Coutinho- Rodgers has a very poor record in the transfer market. (at least for current players... players like Sakho could be great in future years and become squad mainstays). I wouldn't want to risk £80mill to replace Suarez. We know Suarez is good... no... great. I'm not convinced with £80mill to spend we will get anyone else in who IS great. * Migs is a good keeper- but a small step backwards from Reina- so not sure whether to consider that a good transfer or not.
Not in base wage. FSG are more into performance bonuses and such. It would probably be set up so that he could potentially earn that much if he performs well getting a hattrick and such- but not as a base wage.
No that isn't what I meant. I am saying that playing for a bigger club is a draw for players. Playing for a manager you know makes it even more attractive. If Rodgers had stayed at Swansea and a different manager had put a bid in for Allen he may well have stayed with Rodgers at Swansea. Ifs and buts but this situation so often happens. Manager moves to different club, player(s) follow manager. Redknapp used to take the same players to every club. lol. I'm not saying Lallana won't go to Liverpool at all. I am merely saying that Allen may have been doubly interested because he would be working with Rodgers at the new club.
So Toela's suggestions of 'tripling his wage' are just BS. He should apply for a job at the Mirror. Lallana is on £55k or so at the moment and I would think we would improve that significantly if it would mean keeping him. I think many in the Saints squad will have to have improved contracts if they stay or we will lose them and drop down the league.
i think the saints fans are making a lot of assumptions based on new owners and boards. as an outsider looking in at their club i see speculation on manager and if owner is even interested.
fair point, but also style of play the teams play helps, and if you have a club that's bigger than the one you are currently playing for that also makes it more attractive. get your point with the allen one as we didn't play that way before rodgers arrived and he knew the player and what he gave, but now we do that, what would you as a player do?, the club is bigger and plays similar way, so shouldn't be hard to fit in,and probably better wages and cl football. obvious what each one of us would say as you don't want to lose him and i would love to see him in our squad, but what's best for Lallana? (and family?)
