I hadn't actually realized you thought it a possibility - genuinely, as you have never replied with a middling area to my posts, so I really thought you were 100% it isn't happening.

Well I think that shows how little attention you pay to what I actually say :p

You asked me specifically what percentage likelihood I thought it was, and I didn't say 100%: http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...ead-Part-III?p=6482614&viewfull=1#post6482614

If you're really interested in what I think then you can read my thoughts on the Liverpool board, where I again say it's possible that we might sell: http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...er-Rumour-Thread/page87?p=6484324#post6484324

Lallana is not Allen. Southampton aren't Swansea.

The global support and second biggest part is debatable, just as it is debatable whether Barca or Man Utd are the biggest. Yes you are a footballing giant and we are a minnow but so what. As for history Wednesday and Huddersfield are much bigger than Saints. We will never be able to get or keep good players while we are being challenged by the Man Us, Liverpools, Wednesdays and Huddersfields are around.

This is debatable. Many on here would say that you are describing Saints r.e. best football, best up and coming manager and trusting young english players.

Never say never but you are probably right. I think Liverpool will get through the group but stumble similar to Citeh in the knockout rounds.

Funnily enough you are describing Saints again. Difference being you have Suarez.

Are you describing Saints again? Ah no you are talking about Suarez so you must be talking about Liverpool. We have more of the best young English players :)

Liverpool aren't going to pay Lallana more than £100k let alone tripling his wages. Tripling would be £165k. Are you serious about that? I would suggest Saints will be offering an improved deal this summer to stay so the difference here will be reduced.

Yes I agree with that dependent on whether Suarez stays though.

I think we all agree with what you are saying here. Liverpool are one of the behemoth's of world football. A sleeping giant for the past decade or so BUT that doesn't mean that all our players are going to jump at the suggestion of a bid nor does it mean that the club is going to accept bids just because a player says he wants to leave. For Lallana to leave Saints the board are going to want well over £30m + because that is what he is worth to Saints. Not because we are trying to rip people off, because that is what his playing ability, leadership qualities, inspiration throughout the club etc is worth to Saints. To another club he may only be worth £20m but we will be losing much more than just a star player if he leaves.

So get off your high horse. Saints fans aren't under any illusion that we are as big as Liverpool. We might think that take away Suarez, and a fair few penalty/free kick decisions plus add in how much grappling Skrtl gets away that we would have been much closer to Liverpool but that is the playing team. Liverpool as a club are much much bigger than Saints. Liverpool as a first team is not that much better than Saints first team.

Personally, sadly, it appears far more likely to happen than seemed possible just a month or 2 ago. If it has to be any club I would prefer Liverpool to the other top 4 but I'm biased as I have family there.

I don't want any of our key players to go but that is the way of even the big clubs. What I don't know is how committed, or competent, the board are re maintaining the saints upward ambition. Selling a player doesn't mean they're not, but it's what they do next that concerns me as much. Time will tell!

Does Liverpool have the reputation/resources/money to offer Southampton and Lallana an offer they can't refuse? Yes.

But the amount of that offer should be greater than 20 million. And why would Lallana distract himself before WC making demands and trying to force a contract-- especially when the odds are likely his value goes up after WC and he could well have a better pick of teams and/or demand higher wages?

The Champions League shouldn't be a necessity for Lallana. I can understand it being a necessity for a player like Bale, who is unlikely to play in a major international tournament. But Lallana has already been selected in the world cup squad and might start. The world cup is the top level to play at and the biggest spectacle.

If this squad stay together for the next few years a top 4 finish is not out of the question. This season we imploded after a series of injuries. If we can rotate of squad more wisely and strengthen it slightly then it could mean another 20 points. The most important area to strengthen is getting another keeper. The team seem to fall apart without Boruc and Gazzaniga is a poor keeper sadly. If Ramirez and Osvaldo are fit, and 100% committed, then that's already two decent rotation, or bench, options. If we bring in a few back up players, and the young players improve, it isn't outside the realms of possibility to challenge for fourth next season. I'd have thought Lallana would want to see what the potential of this squad of players is. He's been here since League One, when the journey began, and he's the captain. It would be a shame if we never got to see this squad achieve it's true potential.

Counted for hee-haw though didn't it? I mean, what would the three points for a win against little old Southampton at FORTRESS ANFIELD have done for them this year?
