Ha ha, sorry old chap but that didn't actually work out as you intended did it? Read it back, I think you'll find it is you who has just owned up to having your head up your arse old boy, nothing whooshing over my head
Is that Brasseye?? Such a shame that got cancelled. I loved it. It would be the perfect satire for now - could easily do episodes entitled "EU", "Immigration", etc.
It is indeed, first scene from the first episode. It didn't get cancelled, it was only ever meant to be one series or else it wouldn't have really worked and would have lost it's impact once people cottoned on to it. Of course the one-off *****geddon! followed a few years later, which to to my mind remains the greatest and funniest thing I have ever seen on the telly, quite extra-ordinarily brilliant Chris Morris is absolute genius, a big big hero of mine I still tweet BALTIMORA and P2PBSH to Gary Lineker now and again, never had a reply from him though
Ah, I think I'd always assumed that the thousands of complaints for the simply brilliant *****geddon! put him off doing any more. I still smile when I think of the footage of the *****phile dressed as a school. Lineker deserves every bit
The thousands and thousands of complaints were just what he was looking for, and it was more of a case of "job done!" than him being put off. The reaction it received was perfect, the media were up in arms at this "vile programme" glorifying and making fun of *****hillia when in fact it was doing nothing of the sort and was actually highlighting the stark overreaction and mass hysteria created by the media themselves - the News of the the World publishing a list of *****philes, including that of a paediatrician (who had never been accused of anything of the sort) who subsequently had his house petrol bombed for example. Phil Collins had the audacity to complain about being made to look stupid on telly, though nobody had actually forced him to wear a cap with the word NONCE on it and t-shirt adorned with SENSE, and to then declare that he was "talking nonce sense". Just brilliant.
