This thread does smack greatly of a 'big club' fan getting annoyed that some other club has muscled its way into the trophy winning positions.

Yeah, why not? I don't see how a ready-made fortune is morally inferior to building up money through footballing means (not that this ever really happens 100% anyway - let's face it, some of our debts were easier to clear because we were selling prime London real estate) and choking out the opposition that way. Would Liverpool, with their multi-million pound yearly losses and sweetheart interest-free loan deals from their owners, really have been much better?

Its just that a few Liverpool fans are bitter that they havent won a title in such a long time. (only 1 or 2 mind, I generally like the Pool posters on Not606).
Arsenal fans I know dont generally come across as bitter.

I remember on the Old 606 a thread when Roman first bought Chelsea that said that whenever Chelsea won the title, people would act like whoever finished 2nd were the Champions and refer to them as such. Just like a few FC United of Manchester fans who claim Man Utds history Pre-Glazer as their own and act like the Manchester United of the last few years is a different entity. Total Madness.

    Who cares?

£2billion spent...... Man Utd have won more that the pair of them in that time.

Lesson to be learnt here, small clubs remain small.

Give Blackburn rovers loads of money and they will win the title too. They are still a microscopic side from East Lancashire.

As for their fans not caring. When you have sold your soul, why would you care?

How have Chelsea and City sold their soul? What even constitutes the 'soul' of a football club?

if this post was on THEIR boards , that would apply .

No one has said they SHOULD care .

    <doh>

Its a discussion for Arsenal fans on their opinion on the city title .

If City fans want to come on here and put their point they can , what the f**k has it got to do with Chelsea fans ?

    bitter ?

Whats bitter about it , i was one of the first to go on their board and congratulate them .

    Jesus Christ .

    heres the point ..

If Everton had won it , would it be MORE deserving of respect or the same ?

    and why ?

Both City and us have had this $hit on our boards numerous times over the years so your first point is irrelevant.

    Whats bitter about it?
The discussion wouldnt even be happening if rival fans werent bitter about it.
Spending money to win titles is nothing new. Pool did it in the 80's. Man Utd and Blackburn did it in the 90's, and now City and Chelsea are doing it now.

Of course the amounts being banded about are now ridiculous due to inflation in the economy and in footballers wages and the amount of money being pumped into the game in general. But its still the same old.

What I find fascinating is when people talk about clubs spending money THEY earnt, when it is quite clear that other than Man United, NO club has won the league in a decade on money they have earnt. And in the case of United the word "Earnt" can be used rather loosely.
Its not through prize money that has been earnt on the pitch, most of it has been through clever advertising and whoring of the club as a brand in places like Asia.

You might say Chelsea and City got lucky because their fame went global over night with the injections of cash they got, but werent Man Utd equally as lucky?
They won the league the first year the PL was formed (ie the first year that football became Sky's bitch and was being broadcast over the world).
Plus there are all other kinds of factors that dictate how much money a club will generate like location, (Manchester = 2 clubs, London = A dozen clubs).

    theres spending ,

    and theres SPENDING

    they aint the same .

The scale of the act defines it.

Man City have in effect not one first team but 2 and a half .

So while other clubs have to suffer the inevitable injury losses , they are totally unaffected by them.

Some would say , rightly , that that is not really cricket .

if it wasnt wrong , the FFP rules would not be trying to adress it.

I suppose this means if Arsenal ever won the league...all those trying to discredit City would admit that you also bought success and the likes of Palace, Everton etc are the only teams that deserve credit if they ever win it because they don't spend......err lets pick a number out of the air....say 40 million on 1 player?

You're a fine one to talk about spending as a spud. Spurs are right up there with Man Utd on transfer spending since the PL began, but the difference is you've won **** all in that time. For our one expensive player, you've still spent approx £145m more than Arsenal in that time and yet you've had to sit back and watch us win 5 FA cups, 3 league titles and 2 doubles.

In the 'whole' of the 80's we spent - £12,185,000 [won 17 trophies] Everton - £10,755,000 [won 7 trophies]. man utd - £15,750,000 [won 4 trophies none of which were the league].

Does that really constitute us buying the trophies in the way Chelsea and city are now doing?
