I'd be absolutely chuffed if he were to get into the 23, somewhere in between Adam and Rickie levels of happiness, but it would just make absolutely no ****ing sense. It's not like he's had a massive upturn of form recently, he's been pretty damn consistent since we got into the league and if anything less impressive this year (Though I would argue that could be down to the fact that he doesn't have to throw himself all over the pitch as much as he did when we were struggling). Unless they really hadn't looked at him until like a month ago at which point they were like 'Holy **** - we've got to get this guy in right now' which seems unlikely given that he's a great player but not that great and they have very good options at CM, I just don't see how they could completely ignore him 'til this point and then call him up for the WC.

 

You're applying an awful lot of rationale to the French here Mikey, and their ability to confound all reason when it comes to squad selection in any sport! They really are the past masters of it!

 

There's no way he'll get into the 23. Would be totally out of left field.

 

Likewise PTF, this is the French. Do you follow rugby as well? They are brilliant at doing completely inexplicable things with regard to team selections, then when it blows up in their faves, doing the old Gallic shrug routine.

Unfortunately, the French CM spot is a competitive position. Pogba, Cabaye, Matuidi, Guilavogui, Gonalons, Gourcuff, Capoue and a bunch more I've forgotten off the top of my head. It's very fair if Schneiderlin doesn't get in.
