Another Moderator

We have one of the largest sites on not606 and recently the amount of posting has increased tremendously.

I used to make sure I read every single post on every thread but that is becoming more and more impossible - for good reasons - we are very active.

Also I am soon going on holiday and will not have internet access for a week or so.

Would anyone be willing to put their name forward to be another mod on this site? Or to nominate someone else?

This must be the easiest job in the world as our fans are as you will all know from your own reading a great bunch. we do not WUM, we are generally polite and we enjoy the occasional serious difference of opinion without getting angry.

Only once have I modded one article - by a non Watford fan and even then when they took out the offending part 90% of their article stayed and they went on to have some good posts here

There are a few "housekeeping" things to do but they are not onerous and the likes of Maltese Mick and CyprusSyd and others are extremely helpful if you have questions.

As a retired person I cover a lot of day time threads as I pop back and forth here but if someone who is active evenings / overnight could join me it would be fantastic.

If we have a number of volunteers / nominations we can work out who to put forward either by a poll or by chatting amongst those "candidates"

Thoughts?

 

I'd say one of Norway, Hornette or Akureyri, based on the fact that they're around the most. But I suppose it really depends on whether any of them want to do it. Wouldn't be any harm if more than one did.

I would like to put my name forward as now that I have my new laptop (old desktop has been having some issues), I will be on the site many times a day. Even though I may not contribute to discussion as much as other I am very much present on the site. I mainly work from home too so that makes me very flexable in the hours I can moderate the forums.

Forgot to mention I'm a slight insomniac and can be up browsing the site until about 12pm-1am most nights (and sometimes later!).

I would have to agree with Norway, Hornette and OFH, but would also like to put my name forwards, im not too technicaly minded and my spelling can be naf, but i am here most days for at least 12 hours and am often online till 2-3 in the morning. the only hours i struggle with is from 6-10 in the morning as i have to get about 8-10 hours sleep to even speak with any clarity lol.

But may i add, you do a wonderfull job Leo!!

 

Here here. Not just in terms of the thousands of blocks you have made (), but in terms of how you try to steer the ship when things occasionally get a bit excessive. When you do use the special buttons, it's to good effect. Such as when you closed the 999th consecutive thread on Malky a few days ago, whilst explaining yourself and leaving the other 998.

I have to say NNW that I disagree with that last part of what you said. I think everyone should be alowed to post any threads at all - if they are no good they will naturally sink away and not be commented on. If you close threads just because you can then that's censorship.

 

And Leo abides by that view. He uses the extra buttons demonstratively in exceptional circumstances, not as a default option.

 

I think Leo does a good job with minimal intrusion , I think that is a good way to go ,and if you guys want me to give Leo a hand ,I would try to operate in a similar fashion!

 

Definitely norway - then he'll be too busy reading posts to keep posting himself!

 

Always veered more towards rockers than mods myself...

 

I'll give this two or three days then see how many names have been put forward - perhaps put them together on a new thread so we can see who would like to be considered and take it from there.

Probably end up with a poll of the candidates if that suits everyone.

If anyone knows of a potential candidate who is "away" or whatever please speak up on their behalf.
