Given your last name, you could just call her 'City' for short.

Speaking as a non-parent - why is it so good to see the birth of your child? Im not being wacky here, I just dont understand it. Everyone I know who has done it has said it's horriffic and scars you for life - much like tigermaul said above. Youve also got the next 18 years to look at it before it leaves home....

Im sure it's a modern thing and if you dont do it now you're massively frowned upon but until the 90s it was practically unheard of. I genuinley dont know of anyone from the generation above mine who ever went to the birth of their kids. It just wasnt even an option and the midwives kicked you out by all accounts.

Glad it worked out anyway Mike.

It's has been common practice for fathers to attend since the 1980's. If you are of a delicate nature then yes maybe don't attend. But as it takes two to make the baby in the first place then why should the mother go through it alone without the father being there if that's what she wants. If you think it's traumatic to watch then try pushing a watermelon out of your backside and then you might realise it can be quite traumatic for the woman giving birth.

Its not a modern thing, I had to do it in the 80s.

    Worst experience ever.

How anyone can describe it as beautiful and awesome is just baffling to me. All I remember is having to go without a *** for 18 hours, at least the missus had sommat to do, on the bed moaning about the pain...

Seriously, 18 hours of the missus in pain, the last couple were a blur of pain then blood and other stuff.

It was horrible and I can only imagine anyone describing it as beautiful and magical doesn't care about their partner as my abiding memory all 3 times was the pain and discomfort she was in.

My top 2 tips for a new parent though: 1. Do not teach it to walk. 2. Do not teach it to talk.

Those 2 things are the root of all evil.

Erm Charlie, comparing the melon to birth is pretty silly. For one our arses aren't designed to have melons shoved out of them. I'm not, as you should be able to tell from my previous post, going to make light of the pain of birth but it's not the worst by any stretch. *cough*.

Being kicked in the knackers is the worst.

The proof of that is, women have more than one baby, willingly. You will NEVER get anyone saying after being kicked in the knackers "hey, that was fun, I might do that again".
