I'd like Lallana and I think he'd fit into our team perfectly and provide an improvement on Allen and at the moment real competition for Coutinho. I think Lallana has had a better season than Cout but he has 5 years age advantage on him and more experience in England. Coutinho will be a start in 3 or 4 years time though and I'd hate for u to stunt his growth. Like many have said I'd take Lallana for anything around £20m. Maybe could stage it with £10m upfront, £5m over a couple of years and then a further £5m-£10m if we win trophies etc..
Lallallallana is worth £20m- but not when it's not a position we need to fix. We need a third striker. Aspas doesn't cut it. Borini may be better but still not good enough. We need a winger. Moses coming on as a sub wasn't good enough- not going to sign him permanent. We need two full backs. We need a defensive midfielder. Once, we've got all those positions filled- then we can consider spending £20m if it's still in the budget. I like Lallana- if it were a position we needed- I think, in today's inflated market, we could do worse than £20m bid for him. I just don't think we need him. Lallana would be competing in position with: Coutinho, Suso, Tex, Henderson, Sterling, Alberto (probably be loaned out). I think he would be behind Coutinho and Raheem in the pecking order- and Henderson plays further back usually... but Tex and Suso are good prospects too.
Coutinho has been more of a CM play maker lately and I like him there. Henderson is a box to box player. Both different to Lallana so not competition. Suso and Texeira are young. He will compete/rotate/morph with Sterling. Good options to have.
well..... hang on... we have henderson... and allen.... so any box to box midfielder like lallana should be on the list as frnakly... we need it. do we need a winger? or an top of the diamond merchant... I dunno. coutinho and sterling fight it out for that role... lallana can play with henderson. I agree ST, LB, RB needed and not a DM but an alonso type.. ie martinez... yum yum..
I wouldn't call Lallana a box to box midfielder. He can play any of the three positions behind the main striker, which would make him a good player for most squads, but I really don't think he can play further back. One other factor I haven't seen the previous Saints fans mention is the sell-on clause for Lallana. Bournemouth will get 25% of any fee we receive and that's inevitably gonna bump up the price anyone has to pay for him.
This has been mentioned but always worth pointing out again. Southampton don't need to sell. If they do sell it will only be if its in their best interests. Say we bid £20m, they would only get £15m of that to spend on someone else. This is why I think they will hold out for a higher figure. If they sell, they need to get the funds to not only bring someone else in but be able to improve on what they already have. This only changes should Lallana force the deal through. I can't see that happening.
Sky reporting that Chelsea have agreed a £32m deal for Costa. Will be a top signing for them and just what they mean, but probably means Lukaku will be up for grabs. I'd normally say he's not what we need, but the fact Martinez had him playing in a wide right role and he can play through the centre and offer something different, anyone reckon he could be a useful signing? Problem might be that Mourinho would be unwilling to sell to us as we are a real rival now (where as when we got Sturridge we weren't) Wonder if it mean Courtois will be going the other way or if he'll spend another year on loan there. I think the kid is going to be one of the worlds best keepers in a few years and would really surprise me if Chelsea got rid with Cech nearing the end of his career.
Lallana would be much better suited to Arsenal. If he really wants to leave (i think he should stay because Southampton will be on the up if they stop selling their best players) he should be sure the team he goes to uses him the right way.
I'm not even sure what I was trying to say I'm going to guess need but that's not even that close Lukaku for £25m and Barkley for £30m then get Barry in on a free
I'd normally use the "he wants to compete for trophies" argument against Arsenal but problem is they might finally win something this year
Not sure Arsenal would be a good move for the player. Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozil, Wilshire, Podolski, Walcott, etc is quite the competition for a place, I don't think he'd get much game time.
Team of the year votes may suggest otherwise. the player Tobes has been trying his hardest to laugh at for the last couple of weeks is widely seen as a better player this season than his favouritist ever 2013-14 Eveton player
£32 seems cheap. I'd of thought that in today's over-inflated prices, he'd of gone for £40+ I'm guessing that the loan of Courois is a key element of the deal. We no doubt, will have our pants pulled down for our key targets.
don't be a wnaker. the n'dog was a terrible intake for them and a waste. 42 mins of pitch time, some fee was paid for this "service" obviously no goals no assists and generally.... I love to carry on this little joke but its as old as arda turan jokes now. he should just retire!
