The king of the ******ed muppets rewarded for missing the last great opportunity to give Gerrard a title triumph Any decent manager with his players would have got the title ages ago. Even Moyes could have done it. - went for a win instead of playing for a draw when one point was all that was needed against the chavs. Miscalculated and Maureen completely fooled him. - declared publicly that the massive GD could be retrieved when it was clearly unrealistic. Not realising that City have rarely beaten teams 1-0 at home and it would even be larger. Then he blamed his players and called their behaviour criminal - when palace scored to make it 2-3 any decent manager would have brought a defensive player to try to secure the win. No he brought an attacking player and promptly lost 2 points when 3 were already in the bag. The collapse of the ******ed scousers was totally and 100% avoidable! and he is largely responsible. He Knows that and if He and the fans are honest they would admit that too. King of the muppets. I owe him a great summer. PS: Pulis deservedly should have been manager of the year ,not just MOTY for the premiership
Nah, he knows Brendan deserved it and was happy to give him the vote. Tbf Pellegrini should have got it.
I can't believe Fergie would have given the RS manager the vote. Rewarding mistakes and failure. Pulis and Pellegrini definitely above him. I am so damn grateful a manager of Fergie's calibre or similar was not managing the RS.
Pulis. If you're looking for a manager to reward for a "miracle" look no further than Gus Poyet, saved Sunderland from relegation, reached the league cup final and the the fa cup 6th round.
To be honest Sunderland were not that bad. It clicked for him at the right time. The chavs, city and United were poor at the right time for them and the miracle happened. Does poyet deserve the manager of the year? No because if those other teams had kept their composure they wouldn't have had a prayer. IMO managers take too much credit for success and too much stick for failure. Players have to take a lot of the credit and a lot if the blame. The scoring of the goals and the farcical conceding by the RS due to the manager ? No. In the same way, the **** performances by United caused by Moyes ? No ****ing chance. He just happens not to be Fergie. The players have to take full responsibility for switching off
Ok amongst all that is some I agree with and some I don't, the part that Poyet's miracle is down to utd, city and the chavs being poor is crap, whichever way you cut it those three teams even on a bad day should have saw Sunderland off but their fighting spirit was superb, they had to cope with more games than Palace and finished only 7 points behind them. Poyet>Pulis
I think if he'd of won the league he'd of deserved it, but as they blew it I think Pulis deserved it. He did a remarkable job with Palace
Yep he took a team that was destined to finish bottom by a long way and turned them into a mid-table team and got some brilliant results against big teams along the way, often outplaying them! They were a complete and utter shambles before he took over and probably have the worst squad in the league.
even the scouse mafia like Hansen said he bottled it: Former Liverpool captain Alan Hansen, who lifted the club's last top-flight title in 1990, said the season must be regarded as a failure given that the Reds had the title in their own hands with four games remaining. Hansen told Match of the Day: "It's a failure, an absolute failure. You get into that position with four games to go, if you had gone into that dressing room today they would not have been celebrating anything. I think it will be massive disappointment. "If you are at the start of the season, Liverpool would have bitten your hand off to finish second and be in the Champions League, but with the title in your own hands, it's failure."
Well deserved, congrats to Brendan for winning the LMA award. Pulis a deserved winner of the PL award, what a job he has done for Palace, 6 adrift to 11th. Fantastic job
7 points is quite a lot at that end of the table. Sunderland's squad is alot better than Palace's, and Pulis took over when they only had like 2 points. Poyet did do well with Sunderland, though the reason they needed to perform a great escape against the big sides, is because they had got like 1 point from 21 after the Cup final, so it was Poyets fault for getting them in that position in the first place. He did make a lot of strange team selections when they where on that bad run, he kept leaving out Ki and Adam Johnson, who are by far there 2 most skilful, and best players
As a (relative) neutral, my order would have been; Pulis - took a pretty average Palace team and organised them extremely well Pellegrini - 2 trophies in his first season, even if he did have a superb squad. Had to deal with injuries to key players throughout the season Rodgers - As much as I don't like the guy, he almost took the team to the title with that squad... they played some good stuff throughout the season. Wil be interesting what he does with a bit of money this season as his signings are pretty hit and miss and will be playing 2 games a week most weeks now As for Poyet.... well done for getting htose points against the big teams, but they probably shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. Should up there game against all teams, not just the big ones!
Can't see why this should come into play, if that's the case then Fergie and others that have won the award down the years shouldn't have even been considered for the award because their squad was a lot better than others.
No but Fergie never finished behind a manager, that had a weaker group of players than his. He generally over achieved with the players he had. Where as Pulis has finished well above Poyet with worse players. Palace's squad was the worst in the division IMO
Re: Pellegrini Has there been a clearer case of bias against a foreigner ? I cannot believe that if it were Fergie winning the title he would not have been nominated Never has anyone been less deserving of this award. The lma must have felt sorry for Rodgers the muppet missing out on the title
