Was the offer actually confirmed by either Saints or Man Utd? If not how can they be so sure it a) existed in the first place and b) has been rejected?

Just because it is more 'positive' news, doesn't mean it is right. Not believing anything to I hear from the Club or a reliable source.

Was confirmed by all the top media sources, as well as those close to MUFC and also the top guys at the BBC etc.

Dan Roan et al were posting it, and the BBC were running with it - so they're pretty damn confident. Neither club provided comment.

Indeed. It's not chip paper rags like Mail, Sun and Mirror - all contradicting one another.

It also comes from Jamie Jackson, their Manchester correspondent who is very close to United.

You'd think so. But the integrity that seems to be one of the core values of their news reporting seems absent from the sports pages. In short, they make a lot of **** up. They were reporting just over a month ago that David Moyes had personally negotiated Luke's transfer.

Ah okie dokie. I know the Guardian is usually a pretty grounded paper when it comes to facts, it's just difficult to keep track of solid info when there's so many media sources writing dross to appease it's fanbase.

Actually I did get internet in the stadium for the first time ever yesterday! :D Oh ****, that means they've installed some wifi ready for the transfer window. :(

I wish football fans could be in charge of transfers, all I've heard from Utd fans that I know is that Shaw is massively over priced and over hyped because he is English and from Liverpool fans that signing Lallana would remind them of when they signed Downing.

I will believe this because I want it to be true. I don't think it is even in Luke's best interests to move at the moment. He is only a kid and a move like this could make him or break him...why take that risk when he is only 18. If we don't progress how he likes, he could still get another move in a few years. Fingers crossed.

Well if it's true we've rejected a bit for Shaw on the grounds that he's "not for sale", logic dictates we'd do the same with the Lallana bid.

    Right?
