Thinking about Rickie as well. My mate supports Bristol Rovers, and it just makes me think about the past few years for our Lambo. So, so happy. Can't wait to see him in Manaus, sweating his arse off, one on one with Buffon...SLAM! Buffon falls on his backside.

Jay Rodriguez said Rickie Lambert "fully deserves" the call. Also describes Rickie as "the best striker I have ever played with".

He then said Luke is quite quiet and reserved in the dressing room and in many ways doesn't realise just how good he is.

Now that we have three Saints players in the squad, I shall be watching with interest!!! So pleased that Rickie is there. Terrific player and a great example to players in the lower leagues to continue working and developing their game. As Saints have developed, so has Rickie!!!

I don't know. Carroll is very good at what he does. Although it is somewhat limited you can certainly see his value as an old-fashioned English centre forward. There is no doubt that Crouch's footballing ability was underrated in his day but I think his day has passed.

not sure what has changed about crouch. his statistics are much the same as they have always been. it's not as if he relied on pace.

Anyone know when the squad numbers will be released? I'm contemplating buying an overpriced England shirt with Lambert on the back. That's how deliriously happy I am for the big fella....Love makes you do crazy things :emoticon-0115-inlov

It is a funny day. We should have been reveling in the Club's achievement of managing to get three players into the England squad (two of whom have persevered and taken harder routes to get to the top than many [Lambert and Lallana], as well as celebrating a ludicrously successful five years that has seen four members of a team playing in league one come close to making the World Cup [Oxlade-Chamberlain, Schneiderlin, Lambert and Lallana] while propelling ourselves to a record number of points in the Premier League. An astonishing achievement that a club that was in league one four years ago could provide more players for the England squad than three of the top four. Nevertheless, the day has been besmirched by all the media speculation of staff exiting St. Mary's [Pochettino included], as well as nothing but soundbites from the new Chairman. Lallana and Shaw between them have been part of Southampton for over 25 years and we should not let them leave quickly or rashly or without significantly lightening our prospectors wallets.

They do like Gastón. We like Gastón. It's difficult not to like Gastón. I particularly like copying and pasting Gastón Ramírez so that I don't have to go off and find the correct symbols to replace the English o and i.

L'Equipe suggesting Schneiderlin will make Didier Deschamps' 30-man World Cup squad, or even the 23-man squad.

In old Norse ríki means great as in Cnut the Great in Old Norse being Knútr inn ríki.

So in Old Norse we have Riki Lambert "The Great Lambert".
