    so this is fairly interesting

    Announced at 2pm today.

    England World Cup squad

    Goalkeepers
    Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion) this guy is in.... remember last time!
    Fraser Forster (Celtic)

    Defenders
    Leighton Baines (Everton)
    Gary Cahill (Chelsea)
    Phil Jagielka (Everton)
    Glen Johnson (Liverpool)
    Phil Jones (Man Utd)
    Luke Shaw (Southampton)
    Chris Smalling (Man Utd)

This is actually a big deal at right back. the only cover is smalling and jones who are woeful so i fully expect johnson to fade badly as he's not great fitness wise and its hot and stick out there. jones is half fit so there's your cover.

its the same for cahill and jagielka mind.

    Midfielders
    Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) - captain
    Ross Barkley (Everton)
    Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
    Adam Lallana (Southampton)
    Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
    James Milner (Manchester City)
    Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal)
    Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)
    Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)

not pushed on this in terms of quality

    Rickie Lambert (Southampton)
    Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
    Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
    Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)

Good for lambert! welback is a waste

    -

    Stand-by list
    Posted at 14:00
    Michael Carrick (Manchester United)
    Andy Carroll (West Ham United)
    Tom Cleverley (Manchester United)
    Jermain Defoe (Toronto FC)
    Jon Flanagan (Liverpool)
    John Ruddy (Norwich City)
    John Stones (Everton)

how the F is sotnes on the standby list... are we that badly off <laugh> rollon b sides ASAP

    hart
    johnson Jagielka Chail Baines
    Gerrard
    barkely henderson
    Lallana
    Sturridge Rooney

I'd pick it like that and stick on ox and sterling as options.

inevitably this england side is going out at group phase.

The strongest team I see in that squad is:

    ------------Hart
    Johnson-Cahill-Jagielka-Baines
    ----Henderson-Gerrard-------
    --Sterling--Rooney--Lallana---
    ----------Sturridge-----------

Barkley could be a great impact sub. Lambert to.

certianly one way to pick it... it'd be more of a 4-5-1 with hodgosn in charge mind

barry must have pissed off hodgosn sometime cos he's not made standby list but cleveryl has.. defoe on it is a joke!

so the worst team i can make is

    Foster
    NO RB smalling Jones Shaw
    Lampard Milner
    Ox Whilshire Wellbeck
    Lambert

it seems to be we are a defender light due to the way hodgson wants players to cover each other (so hope suarez doesn't get 2 sent off) and we are brinig barkely as a resutl... it not a bad thing as I like him more than 'thers

    well we'll see!

If there are injuries I expect to see

    Carrick
    Carroll
    Flanagan

depending on the positions.... i cannot see stones being brought surely... what other CB option is out there is jones fails to recover?

I hate Rooney in the no. 10 position. His touch is just so **** that every move breaks down with him.

At least he has gone with youth. We won't progress from the group stage so it's good for them to get experience instead of the usual losers.
And who knows, if they gel there is talent there to ruffle a few teams feathers. ( just a shame it's woy in charge)

That is a pretty decent line-up. For that reason, I don't think Woy will go for it. <ok>

Pretty much the team I expected, but I would rather Phil Baresi Jones wasn't going. Really think he's a waste of space (and looks like a gimp).

Made up for Flanno being on the call up list, but Johnson was clearly just called up as the bigger name RB - his form has been dire.
