Scottish champions Celtic are set to offer Lukasz Fabianski a career lifeline after identifying the Arsenal man as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Fraser Forster.

The Hoops are still celebrating yet another Scottish title triumph but one downside of their success is the increased profile earned by their star players.

One such man is England goalkeeper Forster, who kept a whopping 27 clean sheets from his 51 appearances this term, and is poised to feature for the Three Lions in Brazil this summer.

His form this season has seen the 26-year-old emerge as the number one choice to succeed Tim Krul at St James’ Park, with the Dutchman set to take his pick from a host of top European sides following Newcastle’s disastrous end to the campaign.

Newcastle are keen to put a British slant on their recruitment policy and it appears Celtic are resigned to losing their first choice ‘keeper to the Premier League.

However, the number one jersey should not be vacant for too long, with Neil Lennon keen to wrap up a speedy deal for Gunners outcast Fabianski who has cut a forlorn figure on the Arsenal bench for much of the campaign.

Arsenal are set to end their nine-year wait for honours, with Ladbrokes pricing the north Londoners at 1/2 to beat Hull in Saturday’s FA Cup final, and after starting every game in the competition so far the Wembley showpiece could be the perfect send off for the Pole.

The 29-year-old has been limited to just 10 appearances in total this season and started just a single Premier League game for the Gunners.

With his contract expiring this summer the Arsenal man will be available on a free enabling Celtic to put together a package including lucrative wages, Champions League football and pretty much the guarantee of a league title. Seems a no brainer really!

Be happy to have Fraser back as Krul's replacement. Any funds we make from the merry go round will no doubt be lavished on the manager to spend................

If Krul leaves, i'd taken anyone as long as it keeps Elliott out of the first team.

Forster is much better than Krul and would add to the pot too, no brainer.

So how did the powers that be not just encourage Forster to stay on loan? I absolutely hate going back on deals, I'd rather we replaced Krul with Ruddy.

The pot? Is that Mike's pot for buying toys to spank Pardew with?

I have no idea why I assumed there would be a pot for the club.

I'd have him back, deffo. Possibly better than Krul anyway. And can't underestimate the importance of the local lad effect.
