I cannot believe that the best centre half in the country...bar NONE is not in the England squad. Here we go again, taking injured or on the point of returning from injury players to a world cup. Wilshire, Jones, Oxlade wotsisnam .?????Rooney again, taking his physio with him for a week. Plus all the favourites from the top 4. Sounds good to me. AND if anybody can persuade me that Smalling is a better No 5 than Shawcross then...oh bollox to it all. Ryan has held our defence together virtually by himself, in the absence of Huthy, he has stepped up his game, he should have signed up for Wales.
England squad: Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Fraser Forster (Celtic). Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Chris Smalling (Manchester United). Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal). Attackers: Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United). Standby: John Ruddy (Norwich City), Jon Flanagan (Liverpool), John Stones (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Andy Carroll (West Ham United), Jermain Defoe (Toronto FC).
I can see what he has done (or should I say - had to do), but there are a few I wouldnt have taken. Forster - I havent seen enough of him but I probably would have taken Butland for the experience. Smalling - I dont think he has done enough when he has played, and he hasnt played enough. Typical big team selection IMO. Henderson - I think that shows how week the English talent is, especially when Cleverly is on the reserve list. Wilshere - Again hasnt done enough when he has played and he hasnt played alot. Dont think he will be fit enough. Lambert - Difficult to slate him because he is a journey man that most would wish well, but I bet Brazil are ****ting their pants! Welbeck - As above only worse. Welbeck thinks he is somebody and I have never witnessed such a selfish low talent player at a club the size of United. Will want to impress because he wants out of United! Lots of positives in the squad, Shaw, Lallana, Barkley, Sterling, Strurridge etc.... My starting XI ---------------------- Hart ------------------------ Johnson ----- Cahill ----- Jagielka -------- Baines ----------- Gerrard --------Jones --------------- Sterling ------ Rooney ----------- Lallana ------------------- Sturridge ----------------------
Well Smither, you know what I think...Hodgson is not fit to be manager of Liverpool/Fulham never mind England. Past his sell by date years ago...just what the FA need, a yes man, not even a safe pair of hands
personally I think he has picked well, he has picked a lot of youth but still kept some experienced players. I cant complain about any player really (even milner has had a good season). I cant wait for the World cup now I wouldnt have taken Lampard though
to be honest mate I disagree with a lot uou have said mate which must be a first. my starting 11 would be hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines sterling (right wing) Lallana and Gerrard centre midfield with Gerrard the holding midfielder Welbeck (left wing) played there before for Englind and played really well Rooney and sturridge up front whoever was selected as third keeper will never get used anyway, Smalling I agree with you Smithers, Henderson has had a fantastic season and deserves to be in the squad imo, Wilshire probably wont get used much with Barkley having a really good season but Wilshire is a very good player to bring on imo, I really like Lambert and think he offers something different and with the other southampton players to link up with deserves his place in the squad, Welbeck isnt the best finisher to say the least but when he has played on the wing with sturridge and rooney has linked up well. football is all about opinions though Smithers and everyone has a different view.
Ramsey said that he "wouldn't accept Shawcross into the Welsh squad" Roy surprises me EVERY time he releases a team sheet for the upcoming England game(s). ROY OUT
Fair play Ricc each to their own, although we have picked a ver similar starting XI. I agree that Lambert gives us a different option but my point was that I cant see many goals coming our of our forward line at international level. I stand by my comments on Welbeck, I really dont rate him. The amount of times Rooney has played him in for him to fluff his chance (Champions League Chip?) and the amount of times Rooney is wide open and sceaming for the ball for Welbeck to put in Row Z - not for me.
Yeah...that bastard Ramsey...a sheepshagging welsh goblin. With apologies to all goblins. No disrespect to my new welsh bff
I can't see any combination from the squad beating Italy. I can say that with impunity because we are not at war with Italy. ( Just been watching " Crimson Field " ) In case some missed my point , I should explain that as we are not at war with Italy , I would not be called "traitor" for suggesting that we would lose to the enemy .
