My only positive thought is that there are a load of young uns in there and nearly all the 'old guard' are now out. However we will still be out after the first two games so it really didnt matter who he picked. Fills a summer in though I suppose.
http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2010/07/12/2021584/world-cup-debate-what-will-brazil-england-italy-spainInteresting to see the predicted squad for the world cup just after we got knocked out of the last one, Cattermole and Johnson were down as starters. Also reading the other squads it's incredible to see who was predicted to be world class players, Ganso for Brazil, Kakuta for France and Macheda for Italy.
I always thought ...well, going back 2-3 years, Cattermole could/should win a shirt and if only for his red card reputation, which cost us points in the 1st half of last season and pissed off a lot of people here too. Shame really, all he has for this season is a few yellow cards.
Tom Cleverley is an unbelievable selection, how has he shown more than AJ this year??!! If he, Welbeck, Smalling, Jones had all played the way they have this year for, say, Stoke, would they even be mentioned as contenders for the squad?! I think not.
I actually like his selection, lots of young blood out there, Sterling, Henderson, Barkley, Lallana ...for sure he'll play Gerrard and quite right imho and that Liverpool link will favour wor Jordon Glad to see the back of the boring 'old guard' tbh and I like Woy a little-lot better for shaking it up a bit.
