I would have him here, give him a decent run of games and restore his confidence and he is a good player.

Yeah, probably wouldn't want to pay any more than that.

Wouldn't say no, they've got two young defenders who will turn out to be quality and two of the best centre backs in the World (if not best 2). So any defender who would come to Newcastle would be in the same boat.

Please no, cant believe how many of you actually want him. Weve gone down the root of buying manures cast offs for far too long now and most if not all have turned out shocking. If he looks shakey playing with Vidic next to him and limited attacks against man u then how will he last playing alongside our CBs with waves of attack against him. He'll want regular first team footy, why go from being a bench warmer at manure to a bench warmer at nufc? And he'll also want decent wages which I wouldnt really want to give him. Good mate of mine in a man u fan and he says man u are desperate to get rid of him. Why buy in dead wood?

Some of you are mentioning 8 million? Have you gone mad?

Well time will tell but I disagree with you on that one and I'm sure SAF does 2, and the other one is the lad from Blackburn who was our best player in the Under 21's.

At the right price I'd have him... give him time and he won't have attackers turning him silly like Colo sometimes does.

Yep, Smalling and Jones will be world class CBs when they're older, unfortunately I think that Evans will not be and will be average at best. Dont know why some of you are even thinking about spending 8 million pounds on him. If he played for Wigan and he did the same amount he'd be valued at 0.5 million and perhaps flop who might not make it. But because he came through manures system and looked dodgey he'll be good at another level? Hm doesn't quite cut it with me. Thank **** its a dodgey source or i'd be generally worried.

I'd take him for a reasonable price (£6m give or take). Good player and still young with plenty of time to improve into a great defender. Better than Saylor and Willo in my opinion, although not by much, but with far better prospects for improvement.

Ask any Sunderland fan how he did for them, I know they all thought he was brilliant and comfortably their best player at the time.

Jones actually got me some decent points in Fantasy Football last season (he played in Blackburn's midfield). No real relevence on how good he is, just saying. <ok>

We've had past their prime Nicky Butt and Alan Smith, and Danny Simpson who was at very least good enough for us in the Championship. Johnny Evans is a 23 year old(?) being kept out of the Champions first team by two of the best centre halfs in the world, plus a very highly rated Chris Smalling (and the new boy presumably given his fee). Deadwood isn't really the word to use, if he's less than 5mil I'd snap him up. I think he'd happily compete with any of our lot for a first team place.

Would that price be Manure giving you money instead of us paying them? He is 23 now older than Guthrie (I think?) doubt he'll learn much more. It speaks volumes that he was dodgey witj some of the worlds best players 'comforting him' and he still looked shocking...

Its not just manure though, you could go to Chelsea, Geremi, Duff weve had all sorts of cast offs off the 'top four' and theyre not good enough. I dont care which club you play at, if you're a dodgey defender you're a dodgey defender. While were at it, that bebe isnt getting in manures first team but there the champions so he'll be good enough for us? Where were you over the past years pre relegation?

Also remember Man U produce alot of decent CB's. Shawcross was sold because he was too far down the pecking order but was and still is a very good CB. Deadwood is not necessarily fair just because a player can't make it at such a big club.

Hm, that point is a bit stupid, just because they produce good CBs doesnt mean Evans is good. We produce some excellent strikers, it doesnt mean Airey is going to be class. He plays against the same strikers at man u that he would with NUFC except he has better players around him which makes his job easier. If he can't manage to play well for them, I don't think he will be good. Ill bet you now he will never make it as a top defender, in a team challenging for a top 10 position.
