Tobes, interested to hear - would you take a deal involving Lukaku for Barkley if we offered it?

So as long as Barry accepts a 50% wage cut and no signing on bonus all you have done is lost your best striker

Kenwright would be stoned to death if he sold Barkley mate.

The only way the lad will move on in the short term is if he does a Rooney and insists on it, which I just can't see the lad doing tbh.

If we sign Lukaku it'll be for cash.

  7. Ok, so I made the initial point but somehow missed it? Genius <laugh>

It won't cost you more, it will cost you the same again. Ie, back to square one <doh> Its not that hard to understand. And just to show I am not isolating Everton here, it is the same for us with Moses and Cisssokho. Fortunately, those two were far from key players for us so they won't be so hard to replace but it will still cost us money to get to at least the same level (preferably better) again. If you've not heard me say it before, I am totally against incoming loans as it tends not to offer continual progression.

  8. Just like he was with Rooney eh...? <laugh>

I know you mentioned him but proof is in the pudding, its happened before.

He's nowhere near the finished article and I think he'd drive Mourinho demented, as he often seems to think that defensive responsibility is nothing to do with him. Personally, if £50m or something daft landed, as good as he is, I'd take it.

  10. Interested to know how much you'd expect to pay for him?

If a player wants to go, then if he's totally adamant then there'd **** all you can do about it.

Stretford played Rooney like a violin and ensured that he spat his dummy. Could Barkley do the same? well yes....will he? not imo.

    With cash mate.

We've got a £20m surplus from the previous 2 windows and there's £25m incremental TV cash landing this summer.

  13. Did you say something similar last summer? Something about players will never give their all if you force them to stay? <whistle> <laugh>

Got to admit, I think Barkley will show more respect than Rooney did.

  14. You didn't answer the question pal. I asked how much, not how <ok>

I remember his first few games under Moyes he caught my eye, just how good he was on the ball and driving forward. His progress was stagnated a bit with the loans he went on (unnecessary ones imo) and he definitely has a lot to learn but I reckon he'll be another Rooney in terms of quality.

  16. I think he should have more ambition than that <whistle>

When the only offer on the table is Arsenal, then you've got a chance <laugh>

Moyes didn't trust him in a central position and tbf I can understand why, but it did hold the lad back

The loan to Leeds was crazy, not least because Warnock played Michael Tongue ahead of him <laugh>
