That may be so, but if you peel away the layers of bullshit you get to the kernel of meaning within: "we will be able to keep this group together."

Those at the top of the club need to set out a longer term vision pronto (a la a new five-year plan), else the stories will turn out to be real. Top players and managers need a project, something to aim for. I seem to remember Les Reed making a statement that no player would be sold unless Mauricio agreed. I think this has to seen in the context of the bigger picture. If selling Luke enables MP to buy other players which he felt he wanted and strengthened the squad significantly, then he might not object. Anyway, I am not going to lose any sleep about more of the rumours which are only the same as we have had for the last 6 weeks.
