Just noticed this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27368701 Can anybody tell me why the final paragraph was included - just so petty! Can't be arsed getting angry - too busy trying to decide what to do with myself now it's all over
To be fair Dave it's one of Hansen's most famous quotes from his time with MotD. The article is pointing out what he said and how it blew up in his face Bet you lads are gutted about losing your 7th place trophy to us ? Whatever LFC can do we can do better #7thplaceperchisours
To show how spectacularly wrong Hansen can be? Like when he said our season is a failure. Blimey, Eric. Where've you been?
I've been on when I can recently. Usually get on most days though but only for half hour or so. Mainly been working out of the office or using my other account when I'm at home (as I can't remember my password)
Go away Eric! We both know that the phrase alone would have been sufficient. It's the petty misuse of of the BBC that just gets tiresome. Hey Ho! Enjoy 7th - you might just be able to hang on to that perch
Fingers crossed Although we don't usually have problems at keeping hold of things unlike some I just hope it doesn't slip though our fingers Honestly though, it was a very good season for Liverpool and I honestly thought you were going to win it. I'm glad you didn't but it's good to see you lads challenging again.
always the season after we **** up, before in 08 it was because we had ****s as owners and rafa was on the sell to buy crap and had no budget to work with. i just hope we have serious owners this time round, we done well to get 2nd when most didn't expect us to get top4 but we need to capitalize on it and strengthen the squad and never know fresher players towards the end could be key, half of them looked ****ed, but our bench was so **** none of the players would have been good enough to get in a championship side that alone the prem. next year is our year
Morning, you shed-load of blurkers. So that's that, then. All over for another season. Winning would have been sublime, but I never really expected it, so I'm not as totally demoralised as some of us might be. Went in The Cheese afterwards just to get it over with. never realised there were so many citeh fans who went in there. I could have sworn most of them were utd fans. Nowt so queer as folk. Arseholes Well done to our team and our manager. Great effort all round. Let transfer mayhem now ensue Just make sure you get it right
It's hard today. I'm truly delighted at what has been achieved this season but just at the moment it feels like a defeat!! Still we are in a good place to move on from here. For United, my gut tells me that it's going to be a far longer re-building process than the majority of your fans and some of the pundits are predicting. Both the club and the team have to be re-invented. One of the major problems is that The Glazers look upon United as a financial money machine. They have already seen how FSG have grown revenue streams without major player spending or CL income. They can sit for the next 2 years at least withdrawing at the same level without spending any huge sums on players. If they do that, there is nothing that United can do about it. I know it sounds like I'm delighting in that scenario (and I won't lie - it would please me) but I'm trying to be as analytical as possible.
My gut also tells me that Utd will take longer than they think to get back up, but I suspect my gut might not be entirely unbiased.
I think it will take 2-3 years to get us challenging again. Not for the top four but for the title as I think we will get top 4 next year depending on transfers this summer. I don't agree that the club needs reinventing. Some tweeking perhaps but United as a club doesn't need changing in my opinion. I think United will continue to spend as the Glazer want to take as much money out of the club as possible. The more successful we are then the more money they can take. It will take a few years but I'm excited about the future
I didn't say that United wouldn't spend but the £150-200 million warchest is just not the Glazers style. However, you are wrong as far as the commercial income is concerned. The majority of streams are term contracts and will continue. The club's name will still prove attractive to sponsors. OK it means trading on reputation but it can be done successfully - we and Ajax have done it. Now that will sound far more attractive to the Glazers - costs down and 'take' up! But (unfortunately) you will be back.
