Morning Everybody, We should know in the next couple of days which footballer are to be retained, and which ones will be leaving. There are some obvious ones which we don't even need to discuss, so what I'd like to do is to talk about some of the fringe players. Note : Release would mean pay their contract off, and send em packing. Danny Pugh Michael Tonge Paddy Kenny Tom Lees Marius Zeliukas Michael Brown David Norris Aidan White Dominic Poleon
Good morning from a chilly but sunny Bardsey. I thought that Pugh and Brown Elland contracts are up .I think we can get some money for Kenny White Poleon Lees and Peltier who you omitted THE rest Norris and Tonge you will have to pay off
Zakulas try and get a fee I forgot him well its my age I suppose looking forward to my birthday on Friday same day as the dam busters!
Morning Mike, weird but Pelts in no longer listed on the OS. Thought he was only out on loan. Can't imagine we'd get any money for Kenny, Poleon or White. I'd keep Tonge and Pugh as squad players
Morning all. Won't get a penny for anyone on that list. Why? Because other clubs releasing far better players. More likely, as usual, it'll cost us money to get rid of them. I'm far more interested in what'll be coming in. For too many years we've signed the above mentioned crap on ridiculous contracts, hopefully this summer is a turning point
Really believe we will get a fee for Pelts and Kenny and White wouldn't mind a swap White for Jamie Murphy of the bladesthis lad has got the wow factor and pace to burn!
Morning Elland. On your list, I think Danny Pugh might just be retained because he can play in a number of positions. Michael Tonge should go. We can do better. Paddy Kenny can definitely go. Tom Lees will be retained. Not sure about Marius Zeliukas, as it will depend on who else we look at. Unless we can find a natural replacement, I think Michael Brown will get another year. He's still as good at his role as Ross is at his. David Norris can go. Aidan White gives us the one thing we lack, pace. So maybe retained. Dominic Poleon might be retained because he has youth on his side. But this really should have been the seaso where he stepped up to the plate. That he didn't worries me.
Morning all, Think Zaliukas is worth persevering with, but if he goes we'd probably get a fee for him. Before he signed for Leeds, Redknapp at QPR and McCoist at Rangers wanted him. They may well move for him again.
I really can't see past McCormack and Smith. Realistically the only two we would get a fee for. Id keep Byram for another season but unless a huge improvement in his fitness, he can go. A lot depends on this seasons ambitions. If its just sorting finances and finish mid table. we can make do with some of the current lot e.g. white brown and the likes. If however, Cellino is trying to improve us, theres no place for virtually any of the current lot. We'll have a better idea I suppose when he finally shows his hand
Morning all - I would expect a fee for White and Peltier in the region of £250k each, maybe that is wishful thinking? I also thought Pugh and Brown were going to be out of contract along with Diouff??
Out of contract this summer Diouf Drury Pugh Ashdown Brown Cairns Varney Ariyibi Zeliukas 1 year left Norris 1 year left Kenny 1 year left Tonge 2 years left All according to Wiki
Morning all Out of that original list I can see Lees being retained, because he's still under contract. I don't think Pugh will be given a new deal, but I think it's more likely he would than pretty much anyone else on our release list. The season has been over for a week now, and would have expected the likes of Brown to have been offered a contract by now if they were going to get one. A season of rebuilding, probably mid table ish with a view of getting all of the finance sorted doesn't mean, at least for me, that we'll offer a lot of those guys contracts. I'd be much more happy bringing in potential who aren't at playoff standard yet and bedding them in for a season.
The problem with bringing in potential, is that inevitably, many won't make it, will be worthless while contracted to the club. Sounds familiar doesn't it
It does, but I have much less of a problem with White, Poleon, Lees than I do with signing players like Norris, Brown, Tonge, Varney etc to longer deals Can see where you're coming from though Eire, it's going to be a tough choice which way to go, and depends on the one thing we don't know - how much cash with Cellino splash this year while he is trying to steady the ship?
morning all I can see us getting rid of Kenny, Norris, Peltier, possibly Tongue. Poleon is on my get rid list just because we got that kid from the League of Ireland a couple of months back and he's he's due to sign a professional contract. MZ will be hear next season as he has a contract till next summer. I'd also keep Ariybi one board. Sort out his ego and attitude. Ristac I think Green is meant to be out of contract as well
Very true. Problem is White, Poleon and Lees are all crap also. Its just they're our homegrown crap so were a little more tolerant. We've reached the point where anyone signed from here on will have to have proven quality. We cannot afford any more failures, they're too costly in the long run
I don't think I'd describe White, Lees, & Poleon as crap. They haven't yet showed their full potential. But I agree with sentiments expressed on here and elsewhere. Whoever, we get in should automatically be pushing to start, rather than just a squad player who might possibly start.
