Their reaction videos to the end of the season on YouTube are all m(o)ngs singing about Gerrard <laugh>

No manager, no captain, no Europe, no hope

  3. Couldn't we respond with Liverpool 18 - 0 Felliani? Its just as pointless!

A club with over a hundred years worth of history (Man Utd) vs a player with a fourteen year career (Gerrard) hardly seems like a fair jibe does it? <laugh>

It would go over their heads (literally, and figuratively) and they would just scream #fellainiout even more <laugh>

  5. Maybe we should put "Liverpool 5 - 0 RvP"...?

  6. Just noticed that Arsenal were only seven points off the pace in the end <yikes>

They also finished seven points ahead of Everton so I guess that one wasn't so close afterall <whistle>

79 pts just to finish 4th, is that a sign of how hard it is going to be just to get cl football from now on or much lower points tally will do it next season?

suppose that will depend on how much spurs and utd improve.

  8. If 79pts is the new bar, Man Utd have a fifteen point deficit to make up :)

Also, I guess the 80pt for a title challenge goes out the window too.

Everton did collapse massively at the end though.

I think this season was their best chance to get top 4. Now it's never going to happen so they should focus on winning a League/FA cup and end their 19 year drought.

Winning the Europa League to get CL would be a great option for them except that CL teams still drop down so all their hard work could end up wasted.

    actually this is not ture.

plenty of times in the past 4th has gone for a high tally.

its FIFTH that determines the requirement. everton got 72. well done them..... but 73 would have got 4th which is within the 70 =/- 3 i keep saying.

Also lets be clear..... points at the top are mirrored by points at the bottom

    13 West Ham 38 11 7 20 -11 40
    14 Sunderland 38 10 8 20 -19 38
    15 Aston Villa 38 10 8 20 -22 38
    16 Hull...........38 10 7 21 -15 37
    17 West Brom 38 7 15 16 -16 36
    18 Norwich 38 8 9 21 -34 33
    19 Fulham 38 9 5 24 -45 32
    20 Cardiff 38 7 9 22 -42 30

See that 34 point would have been safe, thats 6 points lower than the magic 40 and in fact up to 13th were all in relegation zone.

Cardiff took 30 points which is sometimes a high number for 20th sometimes not but i think it just needs to be said..... the whole bottom half was below par which indirectly lead to the decent sides picking up more points at the sharp end.

i am confident that if you look in 12 months time 70 points =/- 3 will be enough to take 4th and 40 points is safety.

lets be clear also. utd, spurs and such will make it harder next year but 70 odd is still the mark.... and you get that by beating the pure muck in the lower half home and away...

LFc beat cardiff, fulham, norwich, sunderland, west ham and west brom home and away... only took 3 off hull, took 4 off villa, palace and swansea.

In actual fact we did ok... if we do this well again.... 45 points out of 60 we will only need to pick up 25 points against the other top 9 sides = newcastle, southampton, stoke before we even get to the top 7.... we took 15 form those 3...

some would even argue 45/60 points aint actually good enough... i think hull was our worst performance but palace away was just crazy. win some lose some...

I think if we've got the attitude, work rate and goals in the side then being right in the shout for 4th (others can just do better, it happens) is within our grasp but we have to see what the summer brings

  11. I wouldn't say never but it will be hard since they have just lost Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu because their loans have expired. Back to square one so to speak. there is a good possibility they'll retain Deulofeu and possibly sign Barry but that's eating into another year's already low budget.

  12. How would 73pts have got fourth when Arsenal were on 79pts...? (not from Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal's perspective)

Again, how when WBA were on 36pts? (from Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff's view point)

it was a pity for them... they were built on barry, lukaku and mirallas. two loanees but if you look at them howard, coleman, jagielka, baines, mirallas, barkely, osman... mccarthy.. all good players. they had zero cover in defence really and up fornt too. theres a lot of work to do there to get any better than 5th.

they need a big signing up front and if they secure barry it must be on a favorable wage. barry is out of contract but his main motivatino with everton was to get to world cup surely... if he gets a big wage offer abroad would he take that? I don't know if one is coming... spurs are the types to jump in over the top of everton and pay more wages you know...

I do agree that if you can only see 4th then it's pointless and i thnik martinez is a better man than moyes in that regard and will for sure try to win a cup. I certianly want more luck than lfc got in cup ties next year and i would not want everton in any draw!

winning europa is a pipe dream IMO.

So you say we'll struggle due to losing 3 loan players, then say we'll maybe keep 2 of them? <laugh>

As for our budget, how the **** do you know what it is? Martinez said months ago that he chose to not spend the Fellaini fee in January as he felt he'd get better value in the summer. Added to that is the extra £25m+ in TV revenue that is incremental cash. Martinez will have a sizeable budget in comparison to previous years at EFC.

In addition, he's proved with Deulofeu that he can be trusted in bringing on quality young players. He'll have no problem bringing in another couple of quality youngsters from some of Europe's elite this summer.

I think everton should have a good amount to spend.... deulofeu was ok but missed a lot of the year mirallas was more important early in the year and had lots of assists. Barry might stay or might go for highest wage who knows... I thin keverton will be sensible with the moeny but will buy a forward.

I've no idea who he'll loan but loans are risky, deulofeu didn't actually give THAT much (but more than moses did for us) to everton but lukaku was huge. The question has to be heart, work rate from loanees and if everton can pick up a few bargains... like a ba for example.

who knows...It'll be interesting but I think everton fans must surely desire to not see deadline day fixes, even if they two late loans made all the difference this year so having the budget for 30 mil or whatever will help. I really think the training ground stuff being done will eat up a lot of the tv money though.

It was clever to sign Barry on loan but now the clever thing is to let him go again.

  18. Way to ignore the point <applause>

You lose three key players. You may well retain two but it will cost you to do so. I don't know what budget you have but thats irrelevant, it'll still eat into whatever budget you have.

I largely agree with that (aside from the Training ground alterations eating his a meaningful portion of his budget this summer)

I hope Barry stays, he's been fantastic and is a model pro. Just having someone like him around the place is a massive benefit imo. He'll no doubt get plenty of offers, but I hope he's enjoyed his stay enough to want another couple of years with us.

Strong rumours that a deal to keep Deulofeu again next season has been agreed in principle, but that probably rests on who's going to be at the helm at Barca next season. I agree his impact hasn't been huge, but it's been enough to warrant a 2nd year imo.

Lukaku is obviously the biggest potential loss. He's an absolute beast and at 20 is still nowhere near his peak yet. If Chelsea are daft enough to let him go, then I hope we're at the front of the queue. If not, then he'll take some replacing.

I think it's you that's missed the point mate....

How will it cost substantially more than it has done this season?

We were paying half of Barry's wages and all of Deulofeu's. Barry won't get an offer from us for more than what we were paying this season -ergo if they both stay = cost neutral <doh>
