Huge gaps in the field today. Mercedes 45s ahead of red bull. Red Bull 45s ahead of ferrari.... Not even on the chart please log in to view this image
Yep. Kept his cool, did what he had to, pulled some good clean overtakes (with some nice outside action mixed in) and didn't get too eager and be too rash. Mature drive and hopefully back to his best. Can't fault him at all today.
To me, that's not Button having a dig at KMag directly, it's more at the team lacking much development. Perhaps even suggesting he needs some help, but that's not at all KMag's fault. Also adds weight to my suspicions that Button isn't that great at developing the car unless it's fundamentally to his liking, or else he gets bogged down in finding a setup that works rather than feeling what the car is doing.
Didn't Button say that now he was at Mclaren the car was being designed more towards him than Hamilton as he was having a lot more input. yet in 2012 Button couldn't set up the car for s***.

I don't expect to see Jenson at McLaren next year. I reckon McLaren are just using this year to train Kevin to be F1 ready for their Honda era and they will try and get somebody like Vettel or Alonso to "lead the team" in which Kevin would be understudy for a year or two. Button has been saying hardly any upgrades have been coming for this car, I don't know how much change is needed to suit the Mercedes power unit with the chassis, but they would be mad to progress further with this chassis design for a Mercedes PU when Honda next year has to be their main focus. Kevin and Vandoorne are long term investments for McLaren but they need more years in F1 to warrant a real F1 title charge like a seasoned driver would in Vettel or Alonso for example. If those guys don't want in get somebody like Grosjean or Hulk instead!
The prospect of Honda will entice several drivers who are deciding where best their future lies. After yet another average car from the Scuderia, is Alonso thinking that maybe now is the time to move on if he wishes to bag another WDC? He's not getting any younger..... McLaren may as well give up on this year and 'do a Brawn' so they are ready for 2015 with Honda.
I don't know how many people Ferrari need to succeed, their engine is better than Renault's at the moment. They have Fry, Allison and Byrne on the chassis. They have all these proven designers and probably the strongest driver lineup on the grid, yet only 1 podium over 5 races and a whole year since their last win which isn't going to change anytime soon in my opinion. Even getting Newey is not going to change their issues overnight. Vettel has to consider if Renault can actually challenge Mercedes in the long run as there is no way he is going to win the title again if they're still 4-5 steps behind in the power unit. Honda could be the only challenger to Mercedes in this era so drivers will be knocking on that door if Renault and Ferrari can't cut the mustard.
Because he has been told not to maybe? He got all the way from 3-seconds to 1.5, and into DRS zone, after some time he then decided to leave it until the last lap. It was so obvious, what scripted season.
As he gets into the 1.5s zone he gets into the dirty air behind Hamilton so could never get a decent run off the last corner to make DRS effective enough. Look how long it took Alonso to get by Kimi, nearly the whole race. Rosberg simply hasn't got the edge to beat Hamilton at the moment. No conspiracies, no team orders etc, he just isn't good enough. Sorry if you don't like that, but it's FACT.
Honda have said only McLaren are getting the engines, how 100% true is another matter in my opinion. Honda would be daft to ignore somebody like Red Bull promoting their engines. McLaren are just a worse off version to Lotus at the moment Red Bull should be their works team if they got Honda power.
A Bit Harsh. I think he is equal Hamilton he just misses by 3 minor points. - Qualifying (by a few 1000ths) - Grid Starts - Overtaking So as long as he is behind its hard to get ahead. but Hamilton isnt pulling away as such, he is getting pushed. I love to hear a cosi analysis on how Rosberg can win the WDC. That would be great wouldnt it?
