hope Uruguay do **** all and don't get far in world cup as luis needs a rest. although forlan is playing well i think sadly.
no one from Norwich or Fulham. Normally you have 1 player that stands out in a relegated team but from both of those can't see anyone. As jenners says, Caulker has been talked about, young strong CB, but not seen enough of him to be honest. Certainly has that old style big strong physique which is what we need but whether he can be that dominating player I'm not sure. As another option he could well be a decent option but wouldn't want to be spending anything more than £8m for him. Jordan Mutch is another that's looked quite good for them. Strong CM with an eye for goal as well.
We've only just bought Ilori for 7mill, I think he deserves a chance before we go and buy another young CB with potential. If we buy a CB, it should be someone at their peak who's a real leader, otherwise it seems a bit pointless. Like you, not seen much of Caulker, but he doesn't strike me as that player from what I've seen.
I don't know if anyone follows a chap called Graeme Kelly on Twitter - he's very knowledgeable on the club and he reckons that Lucas is staying. But he also mentioned that Lallana wouldn't be the marquee signing and that we're interested in big player currently in the Bundesliga (who isn't German). And I think it could be MArtinez. I think I would cream my pants if it's in. Also, there are strong rumours that we have put in a bid for Alberto Moreno.
I must be one of the few who seems unimpressed by Martinez and his performances for Bayern...he'd cost a crazy amount of money
Tbf, he's bee shifted int centre defence a few times under Pep - strong in the challenge, reads the game, great passing. Perfect player to have in front of the defence. I think £30-35m would be enough.
Same here, no doubt he is a talent, but very lazy and I am not sure how good he would be for our high tempo. I think he would be more suited for Arsenal. Shaqiri is a more likely non German target imo.
I'd be pretty annoyed if we spent 20mill on him, never mind 30-35! I just don't see that he'd add to our play, despite being a better individual. Same reason I wouldn't want Toure here, good individual but as we've shown this year, it's about the team and not a bunch of individual skillsets.
I'd be annoyed if we spent £30m+ on any player. We desperately need numbers as well as improvements. Blowing a large proportion on one player will obviously improve the first team (in theory) but won't help us cope with the extra demands of European football. We need a quality squad.
I personally want us to sign Lallana, I just think he's be a perfect fit to our style of play. Signing Shaw would be good too - depending on the price, as although he's a very good FB he still has areas he needs to improve in before I would feel 100% confident with him. He's young though and I'm sure Rodgers could iron that out pretty quickly.
Reportedly, Man Utd have made a opening bid of £27m for Shaw. If this is true, they will end up paying over £30m, maybe closer to £35m. Again, if true, then it means Southampton aren't going to be selling Lallana on the cheap are they? I can't see either of them trying to force a deal through so it will be up to the buying club to offer enough to encourage them to sell. Got to say though, I would love us to get both, just not for the figures being quoted. Out of the two and ignoring cost, I'd rather have Shaw.
See I'd rather have have Lallana - and I'd be willing to pay quite a large sum for him. Shaw I wouldn't want for any more than 15-20mil. I think you could get better or as good FB's abroad for cheaper - with decent scouts. Lallana must have heard through the grapevine Liverpool may be interested - so the thought of CL may infact make him want to push a move through?
So far Team is looking like for first game of next season: --------------Mignolet Flanno....Sakho....Agger.......Enrique ------------Gerrard ------Countinho---Lallana ------------Sterling ---Suarez-------Sturridge Instant imrppovement already.
Coutinho struggles to get in the side ahead of Henderson and Allen. With the former being a automatic pick this season, there is no way Jordan will be dropped, he's been our second best player this season IMO behind Suarez. We weren't the same side during in his suspension.
Am I the only one who thinks we play better with wingers? When Sterling is out wide he is much more dangerous. Henderson should be in there too and most likely Konoplyanka. Then again, that's the point, it gives us options.
Hang on guys, think about it.... All lama and konoplyanka? You gave to wonder..... As for Martinez, if that happened it would be amazing. Frankly guardiola has done badly at bayern, making them much worse and if Martinez is available.... Half the planet will want him I'm sure we'll try to buy quite a few and get beaten to the punch but as long as we get talent not bargain bucket crap I don't care what the name is aspas and Moses is a poor set of opinions to add
