Wanyama was imperious today. My man of the match.

    He's getting better and better

You have to admit he has taken a lot more than he has ever dished out! I admire him even more, but I really still don't believe it was deliberate, effective certainly.

I really think Cork should have got a red card today. I hate those sort of 'get booked for the team' tackles. Apart from that, another great performance from him. Not just him all the midfield. At times they were so interchangeable it was ridiculous. It was hard to tell who was defensive, who was pushing up, playing left/right etc. Not quite so good when Cork went off though, albeit Utd had improved by then.

That's good defending in my book ;) Januzaj did the same down the other end when Davis(?) was running into the box.

Not sure the rule as it stands demands a red, it was unwarranted as Corky didn't need to do it as Shaw had covered the gap anyway.

Apart from his poor challenge which gave away a free kick on the adge of the box, leaving mata to equalise.

So Hansen gets one of his last MOTD comments about Saints wrong. No Alan, we don't need to sell.

Can't exactly blame him for the goal. It's no worse than any other tackle which gives away a free kick, that the ball went in isn't his fault.

Yes true. And I didn't see the match so can't comment on his overall game. But it seemed unnecessary as wellbeck didn't really have the ball under control. Oh well doesn't really matter, he's a very promising player who does an unglamorous but important job.

After my happy little experience with talkSport the other day, I noticed a piece by the station in NewsNow. Unfortunately, it's business as usual. Apparently, when Lallana was subbed halfway thorugh the game against ManU he clapped all 4 corners of the ground, a sure sign that it was his last game for Southampton, according to talkSport.

Normally this sort of thing would be absolutely laughable, if not for a weak minded individual who posted on talkSport's own forum Goodbye Lallana :( , which is exactly the reaction they were looking for. They are not interested that Adam claps all 4 corners of the ground after every match or when he is subbed. They are not interested that it was the last match of the season and that Adam may well have put in a little extra to his applause for the St Marys crowd's support. They certainly wouldn't find it notable that Adam came out and did a lap of honour like the rest of the players. Of course, if they had, I'm sure it would have been a lap of goodbye. But how would they be able to tell if Adam's goodbye was different to others thanks..? Perhaps they're all going..? Yes, that's the obvious thing. Gosh, what a thicko I am for not thinking of it until now..!

If you tell a rumour or a lie enough times, people start to believe it.

No, as the law stands, not a sending off. But what I'm saying is that it should be. A totally cynical rugby tackle should not be part of the game. Call it good defending if you like but effectively it ruined a good piece of football (thankfully:emoticon-0102-bigsm)

Equally, the cynical foul by Vidic on Lallana when he would have been through in the first half.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to assign blame for needlessly giving away free kicks in very dangerous areas, defensive players should have enough about them to avoid doing so unless there's a really direct goal threat. It's fair enough if they have a very legitimate attempt at the ball or it's a harsh decision, but Vic's challenge was a complete brainfart in a beautiful position for two of the best left foots in world football that United had available. I can completely forgive him for it but it was definitely a significant mistake in my book.
