Every team that doesn't win 14 games in a row has bottled it <ok>

It's a shame you bottled 4th place and have to watch Everton crumble over the summer as your loans go home.

I hope you don't end up relegated though and Martinez is probably far too good to let that happen. Again. <cheers>

For all your bitter deflection, the simple fact remains that had you avoided defeat to Chelsea reserves and not chucked away a 3 goal lead in 9 minutes last weekend, you'd have lifted your Holy Grail.

    Oh well....

Um, yeah... when you finish less than 2 games worth of points off the top you can point to any 2 games in which you dropped points and say that if those results were reversed with no changes to your opponent's results you would have beaten them. #maths

When you bottle things as hard as Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, Man Utd then the list of things that needed to be different is so long people don't bother, but I'll make the effort for you...

If you didn't also ship 3 goals to Palace, score 2 own goals at St Mary's, and throw the game away in injury time against Chelsea then a team you comfortably beat 3-0 wouldn't have taken 4th place off you and ruined any hope of success for another generation <ok>

How is someone slipping and costing us a goal us 'bottling' it? Failing to score against a side managed by Jose Mourinho is hardly a disaster. Lets not forget he's kept clean sheets away against City, Arsenal x2, Man Utd, Schalke & Atletico this season. We bottled the game against Crystal Palace but those 2 points would have made no real difference in the title race anyway. It was the Chelsea game that cost us.

Nope I be chillin', having some nice wine, and looking forward to how we're going to develop the squad over the summer

Usually I hope in the next season things will be different, now I'm mostly hoping for things to keep going as they are

It turns out it costs £100m per point to finish above Liverpool

Think we should take it further back. Losing to Chelsea is always a possibility, Man City did it twice and still won the league, What has cost us are the games against Southampton at home, the loss against Hull and drawing against a 10 man Newcastle. Full points in the lost games would have been enough and getting 3 from the Newcastle game would have taken the pressure off some of the latter games.

Do you think you will finish above us next season?

    #11210
  11. Serious response:
I think there are a lot of things to change before the start of the season that will determine the foundations of such a prediction. Who will be your manager? What signings will either of us make? Who will leave us? Will we still have a flat Track Bully? etc.

    Piss take response:
Of course, there is no way we'll get relegated too <doh>

Yes. You've got alot of rebuilding to do. Most of your 1st XI is poor and you wont be able to buy an entire new team in one window and even if you did it could end up like Spurs attempt to replace Bale.
Not to mention you'll have a new manager and it'll take time for his techniques to take hold.

We're also heading into a period or relative stability with Coach and squad.

My guess, £ity win the league, Chavs and ourselves making up the top 3. Depending on what Arsenal do in the Summer (or don't do) think it'll be between Man U and Arse for the 4th spot.

I think you will get the 40 points needed to survive next season. Won't be easy mind.

Its going to be a busy summer. Already put a bid in for shaw. The season finished a few hours ago <laugh>

Reckon we might have our signings tied up in the next few weeks. Hopefully the main ones before the world cup.

Yourselves will have a new manager and a lot of new players, I think you will have a season very similar to Tottenham this year imo.
Tottenham will have another manager, selling players and buying more again and with Europa, I think they will finish around the same or lower.
Everton, well they had a lot of players on loan and they can't afford to buy them, so they will be weaker, plus Europa, they will fall behind.

So, yes I think we will, strengthen where necessary and another season of growth under Brendan. Not sure if we will battle for 1st again, but I am hopeful of top 4.

Fair play to Ashely Cole. Shown some real class with his comments regarding England.

To be fair he has been one of the consistently quality players for England.

Only if you sign a manager that is so crap he took a title challenging Barcelona within 3 points of relagation!
Oh wait! - that's right... you are! ;)

Gawd knows though... long summer ahead...

You'll sign players... we'll scout players- Chelsea will sign those players. I would expect to finish above United- I think we'll get 3rd next year- a big gap behind City and Chelsea- and a safe gap ahead of United/Arsenal gunning for 4th. It's far from certain though- and you could end up above us... so could Southampton for that matter.

That's just on speculation about what will happen this summer- and truth is- nobody knows.

I think the first 3 or 4 games of any season are pretty crucial- they set the confidence and morale for a team... Confidence is what got us through the season. That massive run of wins near the end- I think we got 6 or 9 points extra from confidence alone from still being near the top... eventually the confidence slipped.
