Manchester City win the league, and here's a factoid they spell City the same as us so could be a omen
We didn't spend £700m, but we spent about £50m - more than most Championship clubs did - and we bought relegation, which could easily have turned into a double relegation. Blackpool got to the prem on £500k. Even with £1bn we would probably not be able to achieve the top flight and stay there.
If we got to the prem and spent 700m then yeah, we would be alright, anyone would because its a ridiculous amount to spend, Could get Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, Neur, Suarez and still have about 150 million left.
I forgot until yesterday that I had them as part of my annual lucky 15 bet. I also had Chesterfield and Wolves but Forest let me down in the Championship
A foreign team are champions of england...700 million pounds spent...nothing to be proud of, Man.City should be disliked much more than Man.Utd but for some unknown reason they aint. Man.City will never be bigger than Man.United.
I fear that my point was missed...... A couple of seasons back we were the Man City of the Championship. We squandered it. With our past record, money means nothing - we are **** with it and **** without.
And before them so were Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal etc ? What's the difference ?? Mancunians would say that historically Man City have always been the bigger of the two teams in Manchester. They also held the record for the largest attendance of some 84,000 at the old Maine Road with Chelsea second with 82,000 at Stamford Bridge before it was redeveloped.
Are you sure about that smhbcfc? I thought that the whole reason we wanted rid of James, Killa, LJ et all was because they were on big salaries?
R&W - Junior was not on a big salary compared with James. Most wanted rid of the runt because we had better players on the bench or out of position to accommodate him. No other reason. Retired at 31
Tut tut Redprintt you rascal you - I hadn't even noticed what I had posted until I read your reply! I still say we had money - and players on big CC wages - and still ballsed it up. We are not capable of spending money wisely. Man City have bought success whereas we have bought failure. I went to the last home game against Crewe in the East end. When everyone was invading the pitch at the end I just left - why celebrate mid table L1 when we have had more opportunities other clubs can out dream if. I clapped the lads out of politeness then made my way back to the cross hands.
We could if we give the right manager enough time Frankly though, I doubt if the Bristol City public have sufficient patience
Breaking News - Luke Wilkshire poised for 3rd straight World Cup. Is this the guy GJ got rid of in 2006 ? And was Junior the player Dad brought in from Hearts the same time. Can't be right, Wilkshire must be retired - He's the same age as Junior. 'I hadn't even noticed what I had posted' R&W - not worry, at least your consistent. Your eyes have been shut about Junior forever. Rascal
This wasn't about the Johnsons, but whilst they have been mentioned, I would swop the current TEAM and league position for GJ, his son and the package deal we enjoyed in 2008 any day. If that's being blind then I don't want to see! It all went south when GJ abandoned his policy of getting 'inferior' players to play above themselves and tried to use his 'underdog' tactics on ex-champions league royalty who wouldn't buy into it.
