That is a brilliant post Grifter. It needs to really be on here in it's entirety. The comments at the end of the article ( Mainly from Chelsea fans) only enhance it. Cheers, I've never seen this before despite trying to avail myself of all QPR info.
Thanks Nines much appreciated! Maybe I should copy and paste the whole thing? They say you can't just turn form on and off...and as a crowd we're definitely out of form at home. It's going to be interesting
A great article and a reminder of just what a 12th man Loftus Road can be. The atmosphere that day was so hostile from the moment the pampered Scum got off their coach, you could literally see the blood draining from their faces and them thinking "Where has this lot come from?". Buoyed by the early penalty and red card the crescendo of noise and vitriol never really let up and I think it's fair to say the crowd were as drained as the players by the end of the game, an unforgettable experience. Can we recreate that atmosphere on Monday? Don't be silly, as it said near the end of the article, you have to have all the right ingredients of vitriol and hatred to get something like that going, little old Wigan just don't get the juices flowing and, if last night's borefest was anything to go by the match could be visual Mogadon...
How close can we get though Super, stoke-esque..? The stakes are high, a win takes us to the home of England for the first time in 28 years. Even the last comparable scenario 11 years ago wasn't as significant. The prize is bigger this time, 1st tier rather than 2nd tier football on the line... Some say our financial future is in the balance. I'm hoping those combined factors can make up for the lack of vitriol!
Monday night needs to be a couldron of hatred towards Wigan......They wont cope with us under our lights and the ground rocking! Make it happen guys and girl....please
On the topic of atmosphere, here's a video from yesterday's game (not mine)
Might not need the opposition to wind us up Sooper, could be that the pent up angst of an incredibly frustrating season will come pouring out in a wall of sound. As long as we can direct it positively, we'll do our job......I'm really looking forward to it. I have a new theory about why we play the way we do. Redknapp is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress syndrome brought on by the truly awful performances in the last 7 or 8 games of last season, totally spineless capitulations as far as I will allow myself to remember them. Now he sits there like a stunned mullet having set us up to avoid such collapses at all costs. The tension means I don't expect Monday or the Final to be classic games and it would be unfair to set expectations of free flowing football too high. But given what we have witnessed all year, if we do make it through (and I think we will) this will be the most bizarrely unsatisfying and unconvincing promotion ever. Not that any of us will care about that on the evening of 24th May. COYRs!!!!!!
Ill never forget that Chelsea game as long as I live. If we can create just half as much atmosphere on Monday it will be rocking!! Really can't wait!!
"Uwe Rosler says the atmosphere at the iPro for tonights play-off game is the 'best he's seen in a while'. Wait till tomorrow, Uwe. . #QPR " 24 hours to go!
It can't come quick enough for me, when you think of that Oldham game it was really nothing in comparison to what's at stake tomorrow night...
Jesus, you're so grandiose! We've dealt with dozens of hostile away games in recent years - hell, we went to City with Uwe's return and 40,000 City fans saying that it was the best atmosphere they'd had since moving to the Etihad - and we did them. We had 50000 Arsenal fans at Wembley and they couldn't beat us. There is nothing that 17000 of you can work up that's going to faze Wigan.
To be fair to the Wigan fans Iceland are doing 2 for 1 offers on deep frozen beef pies tomorrow, they will not want to miss that
I'm genuinely curious - suppose you beat us and got to Wembley - do you genuinely think you'd sell out your allocation? We all know you wouldn't - because you're a small club too. You're just slightly bigger than us, that's all. But we've won better trophies. And we've been to Wembley four times in a year! You haven't been to Wembley four times in your history!
Typical small club mentality Col, you're fixated with how big the crowds of other small clubs are. It's about the glory, not whether you can get a few thousand more supporters!
