OK we didn't win the PL.

But to push the most expensive side in world football to the last day of the season ending with just a 2 point gap is an incredible achievement.

We're a young team that will learn so much from this season - this season has been absuletely wonderful, even if we fell at the final hurdle.

Considering most people (especially opposition fans) saying we would be lucky to get 6th at the beginning of the season, has shown how far we have come with good management and unity within the squad.

I remember our fans (Sir Red, being one of them - although by no means is this a dig at you) saying that due to our abysmal Jan transfer window we would have no chance in hell of getting top 4.

Well it's all over now and we finished 2nd - that makes me dead proud, and the fact we go straight into the CL group stages is such a bonus, financially, being able to attract players etc etc.

Also with the new developments of our stadium looking to be on the horizon. This has been a season I won't forget for many years.

Finally - Rodgers has been a breath of fresh air and I hope he is our manager for many years to come. The perfect fit for Liverpool in my opinion.

So I hope the lads can celebrate an excellent season and realise how special they've made it for us fans.

    <ok>

The doom and gloom when the Jan window slammed shut was crazy! Glad we didn't panic buy and should have an even greater pot to go after the right players this summer - looking forward to CL nights again and another push for the title next year

I know it's another 'what if', but I think we did play the January window wrong. I thought so then and I still think so now. There were many games where our bench looked bleak and the subs made no impact at all on the game - sometimes even making things worse. If we'd perhaps bought a decent wide player, we might have turned a few games around.

Like I said, it's more 'what ifs', but I don't think we should be too quick to condemn the people who were disappointed after January. The squad was always alright, but could have been better. We shouldn't knock people for wanting improvement, nomatter how well we are playing. The mentality of always wanting improvement is what makes winning teams stay at the top - which is why City will spunk another 100mill this summer (unless FFP get their arses in gear).

We went and won 11 games after the Jan transfer window, was only Chelsea & Palace that we dropped points in towards the end so not sure it was all that defining. I thought we would mess it up by not getting anyone, but we were looking at wide attacking players. Was that what cost us in the end? No... it was the silly defensive mistakes and if a defender was never on the radar then not getting anyone wasn't really a miss.

Hopefully we have some of that money we put aside for Kono to use in the summer and boost our transfer budget by another £10-£15m.

  6. I was one of those that criticised for not buying (specifically a DM) in January. However, at the point Gerrard was playing as a box-to-box CM. Credit to Brod for recognising and moving Stevie back to be such a forceful holding player.

I really wanted us to sign konoplyanka as I felt we needed options from the bench and someone that can add something different.

Would have been a bit of a gamble though and at least now we are in a position to sign similarly skilled players with more proven experience

I think the players certainly started to look tired as the run went on - SAS in particular who just haven't been themselves recently.

But back to the OP - wow, what a season. Incredibly proud of the lads - really exciting to see the business we do in the summer and I can't wait to see the boys take this exciting style into Europe.

My point about the January window mess up was that many fans came out and said that there was absoloutely no chance of us getting top 4 simply because of the window being such a disapointment. I think that was kneejerk and has clealy been proved wrong - perhaps with a couple of additions we may have gone on and won the league but we'll never know, and to be honest I'm doubtful that would have happened.

So the point I was making was the people that said due to the Jan window being such a shambles that clearly said we'd screwed our chances of top 4 were completely wrong <ok>

I'm a proud fan right now, proud of everyone connected to the club - even the boot cleaner <ok>

I'll admit that I was very disappointed that we didn't sign a DM in January, and I did believe we messed up our chances of top 4.

But that's not because the DM or the defence proved me wrong - they were ****. The attack has carried us this season and it's not an exaggeration. SAS, Sterling, Hendo, Coutinho and Gerrards pens and corners deserve the credit.

  12. Spurs might have gone on to win the Europa League had we signed The Plank too <yikes>
