Peach and Blackmore. But there has been talk about this on Twitter for a long time before either actually said anything specific. It's fairly conclusive that this has been happening now.

What specifically did Peach and Blackmore say? Unless they were unequivocal (after all they are just as wont to speculate as the fans are) I'd say there's pretty much no evidence of any substance.

 

'Someone close to Nicola' is suitably vague. I can believe that someone has it in for us...but doubt it is Nicola.

That was after another person asked him if he knew what Cortese had been up to. Peach responded: Leaking stuff about his former club from the looks of it.

That's no speculation. At least in my eyes. And I have seen it commented on by other journalists of reasonable standing.

From the looks of it isn't certain either.

 

The idea that Cortese is feeding lies to the media is utterly laughable in my opinion.

Why would he care? We are saints fans, but to Saints would have been a job/project. Why would he try and unsettle the club owned by the daughter of his deceased close friend?

Some saints fans need their head testing.

 

Jack Cork on his future at Southampton:

Hey, I'm not saying I claim to know why, but seeing reporters close to the club openly state it...there must be something there.

 

Well, I think we disagree on what is considered speculation. "Don't think" and "from the looks of it" are weasel words. He's a fan so he's vulnerable to all the same neuroses as all of us, but it looks clear to me that he has no real evidence for this belief.

Other journalists may comment on it, as they usually do on speculation, but if it was really happening, something that outrageous, someone would have said more than "I think" by now.

 

To deflect attention away from the fact that we are about to receive bids on two of our best players, and an offer for our manager?

I don't know, but it seems to me that Saints media team would have more reason to have an agenda than Cortese.

Or the alternative scenario (which I believe is the correct one) is that no one has a hidden agenda, and the media are linking our players away simply because they are brilliant, and it's what happens to every player that is too good for the club that they are at.

 

Our players being linked away does reflect our great season and has happened in the past as well. Kreuger says there have been no offers...doesn't mean there won't be any, but does put the lie to all talk of done deals. I do feel that some of our players have looked better with us than they might in another team, so, apart from Lallana, I think they should think carefully before considering a move.

 

Trying to get source but been told United bid 27m for Shaw today. Unverified.
