It is pretty easy for journo's at the minute - just look around all of the relegated teams, see who their star players are and then come up with a story about them wanting to stay in the Premiership - through in a side that needs to improve on last term and create a link. So to save them a bit of time, how about: Caulker to S'land Sidwell to Burnley Snodgrass to Leicester Marshall to The Skunks Hangeland to Derby/Wigan/QPR/Brighton Remember - you read it here first!!
I agree its bollox, an easy quote, but players do move on from relegated teams, Im thinking of SKP, TS, etc who left us one year and didn't do too badly.
Peruzzi has only played 6 times for catania who are 2nd off bottom! whether thats due to injury, not being THAT good, or both, it looks like we dodged a bullet!!!
We should of kept a howld of the youngun. It's a f**king disgrace him f**king off to Man U for a can of pissing peas. Some **** at SAFC want's shooting.
Rumour has it Ged Mcnamee's son got the contract. This is why Gus could walk. Give Gus the control he wants. L. Laing is one of the best young uns I've seen over there.
If he`s genuinely a better player then no problem. If it`s an example of nepotism at it`s finest then GM and jnr need to be shown the door. KB should also be hauled over coals for letting it happen, It`s his watch.
You don't base a whole teams defensive performance around individuals though, Caulker has had a superb season in a poor defensive side. Look closer to home, Wes, bar the red cards, I think many of us would say he's been one of the best players overall, he's had a very good season, like Cardiff, our defensive record isn't exactly the stuff of champions. Caulker is a young, imposing centre half who's decent on the ball and is strong in the air, despite Cardiff's relegation he has been included in the provisional World Cup squad. You simply can't base a players ability on his teams season, Caulker would be ideal alongside Wes, and I'd say a potential future captain.
Caulker has already made his England debut mate, so short of time travel, he won't. Looks like Liverpool have gone in for him today anyway, so that **** player will be in the Champions League next season, after potentially appearing in a World Cup...
Bally apparently rated him as the best kid ever worked with, yet he's been allowed to leave. It's ****ing **** man.
he's been talked about for years Laing, and everyone I know who's seen him talks of his poise on the ball and him being a solid defender. It's ****ing baffling what's gone on with this one.
Surely ****ing is. As pops says, is it purely nepotism? If it is, there needs to be a total clean out at the so called academy that has brought the amazing number of three through in 10 years.
My lass dad is involved in some grass roots stuff, and he insists that Bally is superb with all the lads and the local clubs, Bally being the longest serving member. My pal who works with the foundation as well insists it's a happy place at the levels below reserve etc that he works at, so I dunno what's going wrong there. You look at Boro & Derby, clubs with good academies at Championship level, and they have players galore coming through, it's tougher Premier League, but you just wonder if someone at the club needs to take a risk. We expected Louis to break through LAST season, never mind this, yet he never got a chance even when we were left with Cuellar etc as the options. Makes no sense.
I wonder if this is one of the deep rooted rotten problems Gus was on about and the Laing situation has merely brought it to the surface?
