Christ, I wish just once someone had shown even just a slight bit of interest in me. Even someone I'm not interested in.

Well honestly, from a selfish perspective as she was willing to cheat I wasn't interested in anything serious anyway. It's a broken relationship but she's been with him for years so however it ends is going to be messy and I'm quite happy without being in the middle of any drama, especially if I'm moving away soon.

Well fair enough. I wouldn't want to get too serious either, mainly because I wouldn't be able to trust her not to cheat again.

**** you need to actually have confidence and talk to a girl before you give up.

And not put them on a pedestal. They're just people. Be funny.

Yep, exactly. I'm not remotely upset about it either, so it's all good. Still, you better believe if they break up while I'm still around then I'm having a go.

Good attitude. This is all just a prelude to ending up with Laura anyway.

This conversation reminds me of about 7 years ago when I had a short fling with a girl at work who had just got engaged. She told me she only said yes to her fiancé when he proposed because she would've had to break up with him if she'd said no and the first time we slept together was actually the night before they went shopping for her engagement ring! She thought about leaving him for me, decided not to and we ended things.

After a while she seemed to completely blank what happened with me out of her memory though. They were engaged for a long time (we're not really in contact any more but I know they only got married this year) and about a year after our fling ended I made a comment to her about how long engagements are kind of unusual these days. Most people I know have got engaged and started planning the wedding immediately. Her response was something about how the two of them weren't ready to get married or move in together but wanted to take their relationship to the next level and show their commitment to each other. I heard that, thought back a couple of years to all the stuff she'd said to me and that we'd done together and only just stopped myself laughing in her face! I don't know whether I feel sorry for her husband or not...

Good for the Rams. Thought for sure he'd go undrafted when he reached the 7th round.

I'm surprised how long it's taking for that plan to come to fruition. Surely it's only a matter of time until the attractive, successful, athletic and wealthy woman realises that a soon-to-be-unemployed broke dickhead is the perfect man for her?

Oh christ, I feel bad for the poor guy she married. That's why I'm not able to get involved in something like that.

Well, yeah, I speak to plenty of girls and it's only in the last few years since my ex that I've become, er, desperate (although that's mainly in response to that disastrous relationship and as a result seeking validaiton). Even before then no-one even bat an eyelid in my direction, even people I spoke to a regularly.

Precisely. Hope your situation is alright at the moment?

No need to seek validation man. You've got to be what, early-mid twenties? You're still absurdly young (not like old man Beefy) and the fact you even have an ex says that, despite all the girl repellent stuff you've posted in here, you're not completely a lost cause. You might need to consider the way you come across to girls, but it's clearly not game over.

Yeah, I was worried he would go undrafted, and then people would call out the league for being homophobic.

For those who are interested, here is the video of his reaction. It is something I think anyone can appreciate.

My smile gets wider every time I watch it. Best moment of the draft, if I could wish for one player to be a success then I'd rather it be Michael Sam than anyone my team picked.

And while I don't exactly have a team/watch much of the NFL these days, I'd love to see both Sam and the Rams succeed and prove that all the hurr durr the distraction will ruin the team that takes him pearl-clutching was just cloaked homophobia.
