Phil Dowd is ref for our game, Atkinson has City/West Ham. Don't know what Dowd's experience is reffing us, but it must be better than having Webb
This from BR today: Rodgers has since extensively analysed the game and believes a lack of concentration was to blame. He said: "The game the other night was difficult. I've watched it three times since and I'm still in shock when I see us end up drawing the game 3-3. To have that much control and good concentration and organisation in the game, for it to slip with 12 minutes to go shouldn't happen. That was probably the biggest disappointment. "If you can't keep your concentration long enough, you'll lose your place. It's as simple as that - you'll lose your place in the squad. "We've played in big games this season and showed real solidity defensively - but we went away to Cardiff and yes, we scored six goals, but we conceded three; went away to Stoke, scored five and conceded three; Palace three; Hull three. "Yes, there's an element of quality from the opponent, but I look at and analyse the game intensely and a big part of it is concentration - organisation, concentrating on your job. "The game the other night, if it was 0-0 we wouldn't have conceded the first goal we did. But because it was 3-0, you can think the game is over - and you can't give people what they don't have. That's also important to understand. Well that spells it out for Johnson skrtel and co.....he was obviously pissed about it as he should be!
Last paragraph is 100% right! the defence basically thought they can do anything because the attack will sort them out! doesn't work that way.
What the defence SHOULD be thinking is "right, the attack/midfield have got us a 3 goal lead, they're going to slack off now so expect more pressure on the defence"
defence should be telling the midfield not to go and give the ball away when all 6 of them are attacking Also, just on the point, don't know if anyone was watching the Brighton v Derby game yesterday but the same situation happened where Derby broke and it was 2v2 just like for Palace's 2nd goal against us. The guy had the ball on the wing and knocked it past the defender on the half way line into open space. In our game, Johnson waved him through with open arms and he went on, crossed the ball and they scored. In the Brighton game, Andrews stepped across, took the man out, got a yellow card and allowed the team back and then defended the free kick from the half way line. If a Championship player I intelligent enough to know it's either man or ball, and not both that get past you then why isn't the "best English RB" capable
does he have a huge ego problem? i know not a lot better if at all, but best rb is laughable. completely agree, should have been one of them where the commentator says take one for the team, but Johnson really is ****e. i hope we don't have this problem next season, as hopefully he will be gone.
World cup to take up time and then Champions League to look forward too!!! It will be back in no time, can't wait.
Anyways, thoughts on the team tomorrow? Guess the engine will be back and full out attack (as per usual). Wouldn't be surprised to see Agger back in too. ------------------------Migs Johnson------Skrtel--------Agger------Cafu -----------------------Gerrard ----------------Hendo------Coutinho ----------------------Sterling ---------------Suarez--------Sturridge
You know what, Allen has been very good in Hendo's absence, so I think he should start in the place of Couthino to be honest.
Our Team -----------------------------------Krul------------------------------------- Debuchy--Colo--Anita..Sissoko..Tiote--Gouffran--Gosling--Williamson--Haidara --------------------------------Remy------------------------------------ Kinda of a loose 9-0-1 formation.
