Sunderland to bid for Steven Caulker May 10, 2014 11:30 GMT (UK), by Ketan Patel (Google+) Sunderland to bid for Steven Caulker Follow @eyefootball Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has hinted that he is considering a transfer move for Cardiff City centre back Steven Caulker in the summer transfer window. With just one game left to play this season and Cardiff set for relegation to the Championship, Caulker is ready to open talks with his agent about a move to another Premier League side. The centre back has already suggested that he would like to leave Wales for a move elsewhere quickly. Caulker is rumoured to have been given the green light to be a part of Roy Hodgson's provisional England squad for the World Cup and so is hoping to secure a move to ensure his long term international ambitions are not jeopardised. Sunderland will make an enquiry after this weekend's final game of the season.
love the transfer window me very strange when a world cup is on, mass media but nothing until its done, or teams are out, very tricky for the media, usually find forums are more on the ball
Also says Caulker wants to leave, with no quotes once more But: http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9295859/caulker-already-focused-on-next-season Smells like BS to me
I'd love him here but where has Gus 'hinted'? Where's the quote? It's bollocks at the moment as far as I'm concerned.
Fletcher, Vaughan, Gardner & Seb all from relegated teams. Good player but would prefer to look elsewhere
Probably bollocks at this point, but I would love it to be true. Would be one of my main targets this summer.
Close to an ideal signing for us mind, would be delighted if this were true. Like mentioned, the lack of quotes suggests it's horse ****, I don't think the original 'I'd stay and help us up' means out a) that was before they went down and b) Woy will have told him it will end his chances
No better than Micheal Turner, we need to set our sights higher than relegated players as GillT says.
Way better BBC. My Spurs mates think they'll go back for him and he may also get into Woy's starting pool for Brazil. A good player with a thinking head on him! Just what we need.
Agree with Gill....no more signings from relegated clubs! They are just after a pay-packet and have no thoughts or loyalty to a club!!
Hed be my main defensive target. Ideal to learn from Brown and Oshea. Never bought this "dont buy from relegated teams" bollox. Good players can be in bad teams. He'll be England's long term centre back next to Cahill after the world cup. He'll be worth treble in 2-3 years time I dare bet.
