They're settling on making loads of people redundant instead.

David Bond was a good Hull City writer was he ? He was certainly banned from entering the press box at Boothferry Park for a while.
Much as I dislike ex-Hull Fc reporter Richard Tingle his writing and passion for that particular club was always upbeat and positive. The only negative headline he ever wrote about them made news itself. I think its about time we had someone like that writing about Hull City.
As for the media team at City I think we need to move up a couple of notches at least, likewise the club shop, we seem to be operating like a lower end Championship Club. More professionalism is needed.

Even if we got state of the art Wembley souvenir items in, we 've still only got less than a week to Wembley. That's almost a month since we beat Sheffield on the 13th May.

    Three weeks of missed sales.

How come the ambulant vendors in town can get their stuff so quick?

They were selling T Shirts 'Hull City Championship Play-Off Winners' down Wembley Way as we walked out of the ground after the Play Off Final.

I'm out of town so not familiar with the local journos, but I'm curious as to why you dislike him, but give him credit, also.

He comes from a footballing background, his father was a director of Scunthorpe United, but he appears (to me anyhow) to always 'big up' rugby league in comparison to football, or 'soccer' as he calls it. At every opportunity on local radio he will turn the discussion to RL within seconds. Last week someone was discussing Scunthorpe's unbeaten run and he turned it round so they ended up discussing Hull FC's unbeaten run in the 1970's.
He obviously loves RL and his reporting on Fc over the years was always upbeat whereas the newspaper he worked for did not adopt the same policy with reporters who covered City. Perhaps he was a fan of Fc and the City reporters were just doing a job ?
If Fc got beat it was always 'Brave Hull'
If City got beat it was something on the lines of 'Toothless Tigers'
Fc's games were always magnificent spectacles, with amazing atmosphere's, City's were boring and dull. Meaning Tingle was acting almost as public relations officer for the club and game and all we ever got was sniping, bitter, piss takers writing about us.
In the HDM today in the preview for tomorrows Premier League game with Everton they have managed to get 'drab' in the headline about the game!!!! How do they know it will be 'drab' it might be a classic!
So I don't dislike him as a person, I don't like the way he always puts RL in front of football.
But he was a revelation for Hull Fc and I just wish he had been the Hull City reporter for 25 years or more instead.

It's not so much when you start looking and realising some of those are the same thing repeated. Online Content/social media for example. Unless you consider posting a link on twitter and facebook to the articles you've just made are a completely separate job. Online revenue/promotions/retail as well, I know there's advertising to be sold online (not with the Perform group website that acts as the OWS there isn't though) but surely that's all the same job - retail is sort out what we're selling and then do it, the other two are just ways to do it. Branding we all know he doesn't do, the owners think it's a lousy brand and want to change it so they're not going to let an employee waste time working on our existing branding. I certainly wouldn't in their position until I either changed it or exhausted my enthusiasm for changing it.

The issue is it would piss Allam off more if the Council tried anything. He'd just view it as them trying to hang on his coattails again and it would make things even worse.

I hope you mean their shop, not the hospice itself.

This is exactly the reason they haven't done anything.

He was banned because he pissed of Terry Dolan with his reporting of his woeful football, so yes he was very good. And reporters dont write the headlines.

Online content will be: articles for the OWS, player profiles, pics, Tiger Leisure, Tiger Player etc... Social Media will be mainly: Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, were the aim isn't just to re-post the articles from the OWS, but to also interact and build a relationship with fans, run competitions, polls, relay interesting facts etc...

As the retail options are poor, I imagine they're not professionally designed and are instead designed internally too - most likely by the club's 'marketing team'. Promotion and branding is probably designed at the club too, so not just a case of sticking it out there for the public to see.

However you look at it there's duplication of jobs there designed to pad it out (not a criticism of him for doing it, who doesn't do that on their CV to make sure employers looking for a specific aspect of a section know you've done it).

You'd be amazed how much of our website is done centrally. Player profiles for example the club has no control over, if there's something wrong with one they have to submit a request to have it changed.

It is not just in Hull that the media, club owners and local council clash.

Southampton have a love hate situation at times. Southampton was the first club to charge the press photographers for matches. I dont think the council have a battle like HCC and the Allams, but there is no love between them. In the case of SCC they are simply inept.

More realistically in Marketing terms, perhaps the club now belongs to East Yorkshire. After all, that is where the real market for potential new fans who attend matches will lie. The very idea of Hull City replacing Leeds United as Yorkshire's main attraction!!!!! Hull is a convenient name, but due to a mixture of local politics and historical cultural forces, support is probably maxxed out within the City boundary. Of course in Premiership terminology, and in commercial terms, the future should lie internationally with Hull Targers.

I thought he was banned because he asked questions about the amount (or lack) of money the vice presidents club were raising at the time ? Martin Fish banned him which was a very mean act at the time because Bond was (is) a freelancer and it literally cut his income off at source.
Headlines are written by the sports editor, the editor works for the newspaper, the reporter works for the newspaper, and, bit controversial this, but I think the local rag should always be 100% behind ALL the local sports clubs, until something obviously need investigating and reporting on in a factual way.
