Ok I can understand that if they've been advertised showing a name and/or ticket number they'd be able to block the ticket. Without that, I would have thought they were powerless.
He has now sold the ticket (for £10 above face value to cover postage). To a woman from Hessle who now lives in London.
I dislike the re-sale of tickets that are easily found, through players, regional FA and the like. I do believe in the marketplace and if someone has a ticket that they have been entitled to from spending their hard-earned cash to support their club, then they should be able to sell it on at market value - that's what life is about, let's be honest. If i had a mate on his uppers and he had queued to get HIS ticket and someone was prepared to pay him ten times the face value, I would tell him to fill his boots. Life is a far harder task than judgment.
I think there's a difference morally between selling your own ticket and selling a "spare" ticket. If it's your ticket then you're the one voluntarily sacrificing your ability to attend, if it's a "spare" ticket then you're sacrificing somebody else's opportunity to attend. The " marks are because 99 times out of 100 these "spare" tickets are 2nd tickets that have been bought specifically to sell for profit which is ****ish, your own ticket can be yours, or one that a friend bought and now can't go for some reason. I still wouldn't feel right selling above face value, for the playoff final I even had a spare ticket I was going to sell for less than face value provided I got to keep the stub afterwards (I've seen the prices some of these things go for on ebay, first appearance at Wembley in a few years will be worth a bit) but no bugger was going round asking for a ticket on the day. It does mean I have a pretty unique collection though. The FA Cup tickets you just scan the barcode on the way in, for the playoff final though the tickets had sections that were ripped off. Having obtained a semi-final ticket and having my own final ticket I have 3 full, mint condition tickets from the 3 games at Wembley. There were only 3,297 seats in Wembley that weren't used that day. Some of those will be Club Wembley seats, some of them will be unsold tickets that were destroyed, and some of them will have been in the Bristol City end. Looking at mine, it says Hull City/Watford on it, with no mention of Bristol C/Palace, so that means any tickets in the Bristol City end don't have our name on them. Club Wembley you don't get ordinary tickets (unless it's just because I had a transferred one) so there's no stub never mind unused tickets for that area of the ground.
I share the same view as Fez and Ricardo on this. There is a moral point of difference, if they planned all along to sell, then they have denied someone else a ticket, if through circumstance they need to sell, I have no problem with a market value. I personally would try to help any "established" poster, to get to the game. What OLM did was above and beyond the call. Exiled supporters can and do get help and I would always urge all southern based supporters to join Hull City Southern Supporters. They do a great job in helping City fans get to games.
People advertising tickets at inflated prices are being contacted and warned that they are breaking the law. I know someone who was contacted. They **** themselves. Believe me this is not scare mongering. The FA are looking to nail this problem.
