Let's take it that LVG is a given, so moving on to one year from now, who would you expect to see in our first team and what are the realistic expectations for the 2014/15 season. In my view I am hoping we don't get bogged down with Europa Cup football, the Thursday fixtures would do more harm than good. Without the distraction of European football I would expect a definite top four finish and a good FA Cup run to be the minimum achievement.
First and foremost I'd like some signings. Deep lying CM playmaker, a box to box midfielder, a LB and possibly a LW. Over the course of the next year we establish a starting 11 with free flowing, expansive style of football like we used to play, and finish top 4. Have to add, the way this season has gone, if we get the key positions filled, we could be competing just as easily for the title as finishing top 4. No team has seemed out of reach this season imo.
Mata wants to be like Liverpool http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ited-can-replicate-liverpools-title-challenge I suppose you learn from the best
Good football. This isnt a good quality league but its competitive. Theres five or six sides in the mix, each capable of putting a run together, beating anyone in their path. We need to be in the mix for starters. Play good attacking football and then who knows? If we win the title then being honest, I wouldnt be shocked. Just think of how many are praying it doesnt happen.
He doesnt need much encouraging mate. If L FC put the training cones out wrong he's onto it, he is that obsessed
Just worry about getting top 4, a title run is getting ahead of yourself lad. Fergie's gone, get used to it Funnier still, half your plastic bretherin still think Ronaldo is a United player
You guys should take it one step at a time: Year 1) Steady the ship Year 2) Get Europa League Year 3) Aim to get back into the CL Year 4) Consolidate CL football Year 5) Maybe hope for a title challenge If done properly, you should be more or less back to where you were last season by 2019
if the players respect Van Gaal i expect us to end up top three (notice i said I expect, not we will)
Obviously I was taking the piss with my comment but I'd say yours was realistic and a good aim. Not sure the club, manager or players will admit to those sort of aims though. I think we'll be hearing title talk TBH. I don't think everything will suddenly put right either though, I do think it will take you guys a bit of time to get back on track. PS...before someone takes this the wrong way and retaliates, I don't think we'll be repeating this season either. I'd be happy with another top four next season subject to signings etc.
I want the club/players to talk title from day one, it shows ambition. If us supporters can start talking title come Jan/Feb it means we are going about it in the right way
You will deffinately be competing for top four, Arsenal will have to up their game and stop expecting to get there.
