Fair points but imo Vertonghen will prove you wrong. I can see Jan going to Utd with LVG and becoming their star centre back.

Lloris is probably the best keepers we've had at Spurs since i've been a fan and imo whoever we sign will be a lesser player than him. Sandro is good but i think a lot easier to replace.

I have plenty of criticism for various people, including Harry for trying to get a better job whe he had the best job he'll ever have, Levy for many things, AVB, Sherwood and others for a few. But the most worrying may be us, fans who are more critical and at least arguably less supportive than most. It's a stretch to imagine fans and board having the patience to let the right manager have the time to show he is the right manager.

Disagree to be honest...I think we were very patient with avb ... he and others mistook quietness during turgid boring football as being negative ... when we had ramos just before ramos and were winless in 8 games we were recorded as being the 2nd loadest crowd in the league.
When we were losing 4 nil to liverpool we were singing lets pretend we scored a goal and then going mental.
Our support is fine...no better and no worse than others...we are just an easy target.

From his point of view, this isn't what he was sold. He was joining a side that finished 4th the season before and only missed out on CL football because of a 1 off never to be repeated event. Since then it's been a joke tbh.

I hope you're right. It's a topic where my limited experience makes me ignorant. I was interested to see if someone would argue that Spurs' fan support is decent or better. If nobody had told me anything I would have been impressed with Spurs' fans at games. They're certainly more enthusiastic than most American crowds.

Im sorry but the players play for the club not one person (Sherwood)

As for pissing of Paulinho I would gladly shake Sherwood's hand, Paulinho is the biggest waste of space i've seen in a long time

I just feel that this team (Paulinho included) just needs the right manager to send it places. For me the two players with the best potential are Lamela and Paulinho with Soldado coming up the rear. This team just needs the right break.

  11. I thought Paulinho would adapt quickly to the PL and the first game or two indicated the same - but that was when he was playing alongside Capoue and Dembele in a much more resilient midfield. Would also like to see the current crop given a few games under a new management team before trading them all in.
Although whether some of them share the same thoughts is debatable!

As for our support, we are far from the worst, although the atmosphere at the Lane this year has been very muted. Our away support has been excellent considering some of the performances.

But for top, top support just take a trip to Selhurst Park. Always have been pretty vocal and positive, but the difference is that their expectations are lower and the comparative success their team has had on the pitch has stimulated that frenzy. Quite an amazing noise and buzz at Palaces games - home and away. Credit to them!!

He's still been better than Rose, Dawson & Naughton though and those 3 probably gave 100% <laugh>

If by the right break you mean a manager who actually knows what he's doing, then I agree.

Yes they do if you take a simplistic view of the situation. However, he is the one they look to for direction, leadership and inspiration. With Sherwood's consistent criticism of the players in public, making statements that will only create resentment and ill feeling, Tim has brought this on himself. As an ex-player himself, I'm amazed that he is being so vocal in press conferences and in TV interviews about players. Sure... have an opinion but there's a time and place for everything. Airing every issue about your squad in public is not the way to build a solid group. So whether or not the club pays the players their wages or not is just one argument. I take your point but it's not as cut and dry as that.

  15. I think Sherwoodie has that "Roy Keane arrogance" that pisses off players.

"I won the league, which means I'm a winner, and you're not, which is why you are failures!"

That seems to be his message, or rather his attitude, towards our players. It never worked for Keane, and it certainly won't work for Sherwoodie.

Maybe they were responding to his plea for more passion

Not a shock. Very cold though. You really shouldn't mess with Levy <yikes>
