I think it was FLT who mentioned Campbell as a possible addition seeing that Cardiff are gone....
At the right price it could be worth a gamble...

Thanks for all the suggestions, personally I think that Jordan Rhodes is hard to ignore, 51 goals in 89 games for Blackburn in The Championship tells its' own story and he has a career average of nearly 2 goals every 3 games.
IMO, he is exactly what we need, a fox in the box, to finish off our possession and numerous created chances. He would probably be easier to get than Danny Ings (who I also like) and would be a bit cheaper too. To those who say that he has never done it at the highest level, I would point to Rickie, Jay and Adam before last season began as examples before him.

Well, obviously 20m would be too much to pay, but I think that anything up to 12m would be a pretty sound investment.

Isn't Rhodes really a finisher only though..? Don't get me wrong, I've admired the lad's ability in the past. I called for us to sign him when we got into the Championship [we eventually went for Sharp - another finisher]. But now I think we're past him. Danny Ings is, in my opinion, and all round striker, with a big future. He may not have Rhodes outright instinct, but he'd be able to play 90 minuutes, rather than be a 20 minute impact player, which the best I could say about Rhodes playing for a top PL side.

For me it's Wellbeck. He may not have shone recently, but I think he can really improve if he comes to a club who believe in him. Similar to Sturridge who struggled at Man City & Chelsea before he went to Liverpool. He has got pace, is useful in the air, can score goals, can play wide and is a good age. I think his confidence has been dented by Utd who effectively say to him, we'll only play you when we want to rest Van Persie or Rooney. With only Jay Rod who has any real pace in attack / midfield & he'll be out for at least 2 months, Wellbeck would be good though probably need £15m.

Promising young player, very atletic, good control of the ball. Went to Fiorentina, but hardly featured. I'd say one for the future, not for the present.

I think Wellbeck is a bit too similar to J Rod and would be very difficult to get. I wouldn't mind Hernandez if the proice was right. Him up top with J rod and Lallana behind. That would be a pretty quick front three and would offer something different to Rickie and Gallagher.

J-rod wont be playing for 6 months realistically. We need someone we can depend on, not 'tide us over' until rodders gets back. We need to accept that J-rod may never be the samé player. I hope he will. Wellbeck would be fantastic but he wont come here.

What I was thinking. United won't let him go. Not for what we'd be prepared to pay.

    True.

(Without shooting me please) If Lallana goes it means as we stand we would be nearly 100% dependant on the goals of Lambert until JRod returns, and as you said we can't rely on him coming back on form. We need to get the goalscoring situation nailed in the Summer or we could really find ourselves struggling. I really don't know where the answer lies though, and as Norwich have so aptly demonstrated, it isn't easy to go and buy yourself goalscorers.

Exactly. Even if Rodriguez does get back to fitness and top form we may not see that top form again until the 15/16 season.

I don't think it's totally out of the question for Wellbeck to come here. He's not a bigger star than Lallana or Osvaldo / Ramirez when they came here. If he's after regular first team football, he's not going to get it at United. City, Chelsea or Arsenal won't go for him. He's too much like Adebayor to go to Spurs & if Everton go for Lukaku they won't want him. If we want to show desire to get to the next level it's the sort of buy that would make a real difference.
