Just got back having stayed over with the in laws. First time for a very long time that Rs fans to a man (and woman) stood and sung non stop for 90 minutes. Crap game but we'll do it on Monday. Keep the faith. URrrrrrss!!
That was funny that night. Well done to all three of you. It sounded like the journey from hell. I'm glad I couldn't get the day off now. Can't wait for Monday's game.
Is there really any sound tactical reason for positioning a player on their weaker foot for crossing a ball? I understand to perhaps mix it up once in a while, but why start a left footed player on the right. I understand a later switch if they getting absolutely no change out of their defensive marker on the preferred wing? I really hope Yun gets a deserved start on Monday - he is full of energy, a good tackler with bags of pace. I think he might be just what we need to break Wigan open. Also hope that Ravel Morrison is more up for this game - I believe that he definitely should start since he is a potential match winner. It will be another tough match, but I believe we will prevail and secure our opportunity for promotion at Wembley, likely playing against Derby.
Going to be an incredible atmosphere on Monday night. Wigan players must be shattered after the season they've had. We need to have possession and make them run.

Cold light of day. The return is anybody's to win. Wigan were poor but we weren't much better it has to be said. I would not play Dunne in the return. He's done his bit for the season and Wigan know enough about our game to harry him when inevitably we knock the ball around the back 4. The defence sorts itself out if Yun comes in at LB and Hill is in the centre with Ned. Going forward, there is absolutely no understanding between Morrison and Austin. Morrison simply did not know where to be, rarely made himself available and seemed to be complaining about the back of his head from early in the first half. Is this the suspect temperament which led to big Sam dropping him? If he can't be bothered for a game like this he should not be starting on Monday. Doyle on the other hand looked both lively and INTELLIGENT and seemed to click with Charlie immediately. The other option I suppose is to revert to Charlie Austin playing as lone striker with a 5 man midfield. However if we do that, the attacking midfielders need to be prepared to get into the box and to shoot. We were too obvious last night in our reliance on Charlie Austin. A lot of the time he had 2 or 3 defenders on him. If we play with a bit more intelligence he can draw defenders away as a ruse provided the other attackers are prepared to take responsibility, get into space for each other and have a shot. That is a better diversionary tactic than Redknapp saying we were going to be positive and then watching Barton play in our own half for 60 minutes content to soak up the non-existent Wigan pressure. All in all, a good night out because of the support and a decent result which gives us the platform we need to win it at LR. Again the pie was very decent, that's two in a week now. Mrs YH will be putting me on a diet. Traore was either injured or lacked match fitness, hardly surprising considering the treatment he got from some thuggish tackling by Wigan's defenders. I would be inclined to play Benayoun instead and bring Krancjar on earlier in the game as a sub.
SussexR Quite right the M6 was murder got home at 3am totally agree with your appraisal of the team and Ravel.
It would be nice if Arry took the initiative for once and blew them away in first 20 mins. I personally think we can do this as I believe Wigan are knackered but Arry seems to be a different Manager at Rangers and wont do it in any match let alone a play off.
Fair dues for travelling Dens. Hopefully we can finish the job tomorrow night and we get a chance to meet up at Wembley.
What was the alternative Killy? If you swap them then yes you'd have Traore on his favoured side but then you'd have Hoilett on his weak side. I was slating Hoilett towards the end of the league season because he kept cutting inside and just wouldn't cross the ball. Then I accepted that the lad just can't play down the right. Its not his game. He's 10 times more effective down the left. So whichever way you do it, you'll have one of them on their wrong side. The only alternative that I could see was to start Doyle on the right instead of Traore but he's not a winger and he's not fit for 90 minutes. I can understand what Redknapp was trying to do. I think his lineup and tactics were spot on and they got us the result.
Good luck on Monday ranger col... you should breeze past them at home . Hope you and your son enjoy the gme .. cheers
